Mark works for the company Linda Sasson owns. Linda is even his boss. This doesn’t stop Mark from crossing he lines. He wants Linda as a slave and serving his every need. Mark is a Dom who dances on the edge of the BDSM club rules. He never fully crosses the line, but it appears he thinks about it so often he needs to remind himself not to get banned. Yet Mark seems to be a respected dominant since he’s demonstrated on the stage many times.
Linda is a strong professional woman who is looking to explore her submissive side. She makes the mistake of exploring this with Mark. The reason why it comes across as a mistake is because Mark is anything but a trustworthy dominant in this story. Since this is the first book in the series, it is not clear if he’s designed to be this way for a reason or if he is really this much of a domineering jerk.
This story’s BDSM scenes are fine and as expected from the talented Ms. Pray. What is unexpected is the mixed message. The story comes across initially like a romance story with a guy looking for his one submissive. He’s tired of the meaningless domination without the connection. Yet his actions and his dialog do not match his inner musings. He turns into the classic bad Dom newbies to the lifestyle are warned about. He is abusive and manipulative with his ulterior motives. It’s not non consensual nor dubious consensual. If the story’s beginning, middle and end were all in the theme of non con or dub con, it would have been fine. The switch a third of the way through the story made it a difficult read.
While the writing and sex were decent and gives this a rating of 3 Stars and Paddles, from a reader perspective, there was no enjoyment. This book neither aroused nor amused. Instead, a feeling of dread and ill at ease seemed to be the only emotions for this reader. This is a surprise since Ms. Pray’s books are generally well received. Perhaps the next installment will bring light to the reason behind this book’s set up. With how this tale ended, Mark is on a fast meeting with a bullet in the head from a gun – my Sig. This short BDSM story is for kinky readers who enjoy the breaking of a confident woman.

Fatal Submission is first and foremost an erotic horror story with a BDSM setting. Overall it is a fairly well written book with a solid storyline and fully drawn characters, but if you’re looking for an erotic tale with lots of hot sex and BDSM scenarios, this is probably not for you. For nearly the entire first half of the book the only erotic scene involves relatively tame phone sex, which is sandwiched between the scenes building up to the damsel in distress segment.
Claire is a wannabe sub who becomes frustrated with the slow pace her prospective dom is taking to initiate her into the BDSM world and his life. As a consequence, when she meets another dom who seems to “get” her, and who is open to giving her what she craves right away, the impulsive and impatient Claire decides to go for it. Unfortunately, he is Mr. Wrong in spades, a serial murderer with his own personal dungeon where consensual TPE is an alien concept and things end badly for subs that visit there.
Thankfully, the goings on in the dungeon are largely glossed over or alluded to rather than chronicled in gory detail. As it happens, Claire’s dom of preference is ex-military, co-owns a security company, and has been searching for his missing cousin, a previous victim of Mr. Wrong we are to learn, so with relative dispatch he manages to track Claire down and save the day (yes, I am cynical).
Since the entire experience is traumatic for both Claire and her dom-to-be, a period of healing takes place after the rescue before they finally consummate their D/s relationship. Whereas the scene in question is sexy and sensual, it is not significantly more intense in terms of BDSM than the phone sex interlude.
The author, Nicole Austin, has written quite a few books, which judging by their titles would generally be considered erotic romance. Realistically, that category more or less fits Fatal Submission as well, even with the horror component. For me, this book is a little too touchy feely, but to be fair it is well crafted and undoubtedly appeals to readers with different sensibilities than mine.

This was a pleasant little romp with a strong heroine, sexy hero and enjoyable story line.
Denise Shaw has patiently built up her horse training practice at her family ranch and has spent her entire life fighting against controlling men. Enter Brody Kyle, a loner and womanizer who wants to win the rodeo circuit championship buckle in order to obtain enough money to buy his own ranch. Shuffled from foster home to foster home as a child, his goal is a place of his own. Then his horse must be put down after a terrible accident, and he is not skilled enough to train his new mount in time to ride him in the circuit. So he enlists Denise’s help.
The spark between the two of them ignites into a conflagration, in spite of the fact that Brody is definitely in charge in the bedroom. The rest of the time, he considers Denise his equal.
But can the two lovers overcome her need for control outside the bedroom and his haphazard past in order to make a future with each other?
The BDSM in the book is very light, consisting mostly of bondage, but the sex scenes are hot, and the story well written enough to hold your attention.

Holy sizzling hot shifter sex! This short story is a flaming hot kinky read. Sarah McIntire returns to her hometown while her father is on vacation for a month. Since she followed her father’s footsteps to become a veterinarian, she can easily cover for him. Her first patient with a pregnant mare leads her to Grant LaCroix. Relatively new, Grant owns the old Anderson spread. Grant’s immediate confrontational attitude puts Sarah off. Despite his less than warm welcome, Sarah’s focus is on the ailing mare with a breech foal.
Sarah and Grant’s initiation interaction is rough and it only becomes rougher when the sun sets. Grant’s family is cursed with their males shifting into some kind of demon creature. Basically, Grant hulks out and his hulk form is a Dom. From the time Sarah and Grant’s hulk form get it on, it is one smexy ride.
The shifted sex in this book is hot. It’s not often an author will cross the lines in this delightfully deviant manner. This is what really makes the book stand out from other shifter paranormal books. The BD in this book is not as expected and is a great flip between who is restrained and who is not. The plot of this book holds no surprises. It’s an easy read with likeable characters. This book is more than just a few BDSM kinky shifter sex scenes. The back history is the foundation of this world building and it will be interesting to see what will follow. Adding in secondary characters from the town also helps build this story to be more than just a man and woman getting their rocks off. It helps build a home for these characters.
The main drawback to this book is that it is too short. It would have been nice to learn more about Grant’s brother and how Grant decided to buy Anderson’s home. Hopefully there will be more exploration of Grant’s other self and its abilities. If the next book would be twice as long with more character development and more world building, this would help attract more readers. The hook already exists with smexy shifter sex. This paranormal romance is for kinky readers who like to dance on the line of taboo.

When Evard Keenan sends for a pleasure ambassador, Spring knows it’s the only opportunity she’ll have to recruit the mysterious Chemist. She anticipates the danger of her mission, yet she’s unprepared for the passion that ignites with their first kiss. Never before has she longed for another with such aching intensity. She believes in the Resistance, and she’ll complete her assignment regardless of the cost. But now that she’s tasted the pleasures only found in his embrace, how will she find the strength to walk away?
Evard is every bit as much a captive of the ruthless Gathosians as the people of Earth. He knows the Resistance is his only hope of escaping his tormentors, and he’s just as sure Spring is part of the Resistance. He will seduce her, captivate and pleasure her, until she will no longer consider leaving him behind.
I was excited when I came across this in our review pile as it is a sci-fi erotica/romance and there are not a lot of these, especially good ones. I was a little nervous as this is the 3rd book in a series and I am not a big fan of reading books out of order, I am a chronological kind of girl *grins* However, it was very easy to pick up what was going on and get a feel for the series.
One of the cool ideas in this book is that the resistance uses succubi so that their operators can do undercover work without having to fully sacrifice themselves, especially since most females are sold as pleasure slaves under the invasion. They didn’t go into this a lot, my guess/hope is they do in a previous book as it was a great idea that I would want to explore more. In fact, I wish the book itself was longer so we could delve deeper into the characters and their world.
The love story itself was not new or revolutionary, but it was well done and you wanted the characters to get together. Our hero is a dominant alpha male, and there is some light bondage and anal play.
I would recommend this book, and will definitely be looking into reading the rest of the series and more by this author.
