Review:
Adonis, named for one of the gods along with his three brothers, was taken from the streets and became the most accomplished courtesans, torturers, and assassins under the tutelage of their adopted father. Adonis seduced Selena when she was sixteen, then bargained with both his father and hers to save her life. Selena comes back twelve years later to exact revenge.
I enjoyed this story as it progressed. I kept waiting for some of the reasons that were hinted at earlier in the story though. The chemistry between both Selena and Adonis was intense though there were times I wanted to smack both of them because of their secrecy and desire to protect each other. The mystery and suspense of the story was very obviously going to be continued to the next book and probably through the rest of the brothers.
The author kept the readers interest, though I was a little confused sometimes with some of the ‘memories’ that each character had as it jumped a little. I understand why, but I thought it was a little too much at times and not enough in others.
The scenes between the two were very hot. There was one scene that I wanted more detail, but overall the reader gets a clear picture of what is going on between the two. I thought it was interesting about Adonis’ aversion to baths but you really don’t know why until the end and I though Selena’s solution was actually a genius idea.
I can’t wait until the next book in this series comes out as I want to find out more about the brothers. They show up as the main secondary characters that add a lot to the storyline.
