Review:

Rose Thornwell’s femdom novella, Yes, Mistress (not to be mistaken for one of numerous other books in the genre with the same title), in many respects seems to be written from the perspective of what an outsider thinks the world of BDSM is about. The main character is a forty-year-old professional dominatrix named Callandra who, as the story begins, is trolling for a potential client in a hotel lobby when a young gigolo mistakes her for a prospective sugar momma and starts hitting on her. The exchange between the two hustlers is somewhat droll as Callandra toys with her younger counterpart. On a whim she gives him a key to her room after giving him fair warning that she is dangerous.

Although smarting from her sarcastic assessment of his choice of professions, Nick is drawn to her and shows up at the appointed time ready for adventure. Whatever he was expecting, it was not to be introduced up-close-and-personal to BDSM or unceremoniously turned out as a submissive. An evening of well-orchestrated and highly erotic pleasure/pain scenarios awakens his latent need to submit to powerful women. By night’s end he is desperate to become Callandra’s personal slave. And curiously, Callandra is uncharacteristically warming to the idea of having him become her live-in pet… as long as somebody else trains him properly – she doesn’t have the time or patience for that.

She calls her good friend Marisa, proprietor of a full-service dungeon, to arrange for Nick’s formal training in proper sexual servitude. During their conversation, Marisa prevails upon Callandra to meet with Simon, a rich client in search of a mature mistress with the skills necessary to help him realize his long-held submission and humiliation fantasies. So off to Italy she goes for an interview with the fabulously rich and powerful closet submissive, while Nick is turned over to Athena, a beautiful and cruel young mistress, for his training.

The remainder of the book details the activities, sexual and otherwise, both Callandra and Nick experience. Since their time together was extremely brief, they both begin to gravitate toward the new person in their life, each of whom is more age appropriate and better attuned to their sensibilities. With a great deal of angst and hand wringing the relationships finally get sorted out, with a HEA ending for all concerned.

Considering that this is primarily an erotic book with a BDSM theme, potential readers should know that the parts pertaining to that are exceptionally well done and sexy as hell, providing that you have an affinity to those particular kinks. But if complete plausibility and verisimilitude are essential for you to thoroughly enjoy a smutty read, Yes, Mistress may not be altogether satisfying.

Diana Street is a no nonsense private detective who spanks her way through a high profile murder case, while making love to the women she meets along the way. Wayward females learn that Diana has little patience with those who break the rules; and men in need of an “attitude adjustment,” fall into step when Diana snaps her fingers. Along the way, Diana solves a murder and delivers sweet spankings to everyone who needs them. WARNING: Contains mature adult themes among multiple partners, BDSM, spanking, anal play and explicit sex.

Review:

I am not entirely sure what to think of this short story. At least there was somewhat of a plot, which was good. As far as ‘sting factor’ of the book…..boring! There are plenty of other books out there with girl on girl action that are just steaming hot, but this isn’t one of them. Spanking is all good and well, for fun or for punishment, but something was just “off” in this book. Granted, the secretary in the story didn’t say no, but she didn’t say yes either.  And at the end of the story the rich lady didn’t say no either, but she didn’t say yes. No discussion just the Detective’s rules. If there would have been more to the book sexually or ‘scene’ wise, it might have been better but even that is doubtful in my opinion.

Review:

In this amazing continuation to the Razor series, Amy, Raine and Bryce reach a whole new level in their relationship.

The Razor series is hot. I loved the first book and was thrilled to be able to read the second. In this continuation of the series, we see how being in a poly relationship can effect everything in the trio’s life. Amy and Bryce are a married couple and Raine is Amy’s best friend. When Amy asks Raine to mentor Bryce in a BDSM relationship in the first book, all three discover their budding attraction to each other may be more than just a temporary thing. When they make a decision to become permanent sex is great, but what happens when word gets out to family, job associates and friends about a lifestyle that is unconventional? What about what goes on behind closed doors? When Amy realizes that Bryce loves Raine, it devastates her. Can there be room in both their hearts to add another person into their family?

Raine is on the outside, still and looking in. She is afraid that Amy and Bryce will close ranks and leave her standing in the cold now that things are getting harder. When Bryce loses a contract at his construction firm and co-workers react badly to his revelations, things become rockier. Amy will not part with Raine, but what about Bryce? He has to decide if their new lifestyle is what he really wants before it destroys all of their lives in the process.

This book was visceral. The sex was soul deep and you got to see what the inside of a poly relationship is really like. The dynamics when you get three people under the same roof are going to be a little different than a conventional married couple. What about that third person? They have much more to lose if things go badly. In this case, Amy and Bryce take the plunge and go with Raine to a Samhain party and experience her deepest needs. At the BDSM party, they witness Lucien interacting with her and get more of a taste into her lifestyle. It is well laid out and toe curling in its intensity.

As the story progresses, the intricacies of the threesome are explored, family reactions are measured and Bryce, Raine and Amy find a new strength together. I loved the flow of the book and the intense emotions. When I reached the end, I actually screamed at the cliff hanger ending, swiping madly at my e-reader not even believing it was the last page.

Love’s Storm was a hurricane of deep emotions, sexy kink and real time repercussions that can hit you in a poly relationship, both behind closed doors and in the outside world. I can’t get enough of this story and I hope you fall in love with it just like I did.

She cannot be the sub he needs, but she can’t walk away either. When she’s challenged by Cade to face her demons, her old nightmares resurface. Can they overcome the chasm between them, or are the nightmares simply too strong?

Review:

How do you write a book about BDSM and the “lifestyle” and never fully discuss it? There were hints of things like handcuffs, spankings and Shibari ropes; but no real action. It read like a vanilla romance with some kinky words thrown in by a “tourist”.

Anna (Dianna) – If her husband’s “lifestyle” and needs were the problem why is she a personal assistant to a Domme who owns a private club? Why sit in reception and not see what is on the other side? Surrounded by the very things she ran from, saying I am not going to look on the other side of the door is ridiculous. She was the kind of character that made no sense to me. One minute she was saying, ‘I love you’ and the next she was leaving to sort herself out. Anna needed sorting all right and she did not deserve the patience and kindness the other characters showed her, especially her husband Caden.

Caden – This character is a friggin’ saint. He did demo’s and taught others but did not allow his heart to get involved again after his wife/sub left him. He held on to the hope of her return for fifteen years. Letting her be in charge during the reconciliation only got history to repeat itself.

This Master deserved much more than Anna could offer him because she was too wrapped up into her own insecurities and issues to discuss things with him. She disrespected him by not communicating. He did not recognize the signs of her unhappiness during the first part of their marriage because of her lack of honest communication. Caden needed to walk away.

This book was frustrating and difficult to read. Caden, the dominant Master became Anna’s doormat. Not something a strong Dom would ever do, real or fictional. Both of them need to be bound and paddled. Reading erotic books is supposed to be hot and sexy; this was neither.
