If you are looking for hot, steamy, panty wetting sex scenes, this is not the book for you. However, ‘The Promise of Lace’ is worth your time to read. If you are looking for hard core floggers and clamps etc. kink, this is not the book for you. But, if you are looking for a love story with a kink that is more prevalent than most acknowledge, and a carefully applied female dominant inspired sex scene, read ‘The Promise of Lace.’

Roxanne and Hailey are out shopping for lingerie for Hailey to help spice up her relationship with her longtime boyfriend and husband, Noah. Enter Dieter. Dieter sweet talks and compliments Hailey, advising her to try a different outfit that will compliment her better, going and getting it for her. Roxanne and Hailey appreciate Dieter’s good looks and early twenty’s cut, tight body, but Roxanne is hesitant. She does try on an outfit he picks out for her as well, but doesn’t buy anything as she sees no need for anything fancy as she is between boyfriends. Roxanne has commitment issues that are revealed throughout the book, and her transformation is the driving force of the story as Dieter pushes all the wrong buttons for her, but, yet, there is still a spark there that Roxanne just can’t deny.

Roxanne, at the urging of Hailey goes back to the lingerie shop to try and flirt with Dieter, but the attempt falls flat as Dieter is not flirty this time in to the shop, but strictly professional. A couple of weeks later, Roxanne, Haley and Noah are out together having a drink when fortune smiles on Roxanne and Dieter walks in to the bar. After some flirting, they exchange numbers. Dieter actually texts her the following morning and they set up their first date.

The first date is where things get interesting. Dieter has a rule of “Not sleeping with girls on a first date” which throws Roxanne but she rolls with it. A little later in the evening as the kissing and petting gets hotter and more amorous and things start to move further along, including Roxanne finding out Dieter is very accomplished at giving oral sex. Without seeming meaning to, Roxanne takes on a very Dominant role with Dieter and he responds accordingly and follows her “commands”. She finds out the reason for Dieter’s “no sex” rule when she goes to reciprocate in the oral arena. He likes wearing women’s lingerie. It throws Roxanne, but she gamely goes with it, and continues the D/s game they are playing.

While there are several other scenes between Dieter and Roxanne, including an aborted hand job in the men’s room of a museum, this book is not so much about the physical aspect of their relationship. It is about two damaged people finding each other and learning to trust in each other. In other words, it is a love story.
