Review:

When Susanna Campion sets her sights on the incomparable Anthony Provost, Earl of Sentern, she isn’t about to go at it the usual way at all.

In a time where marriages were arranged by well-meaning mothers, Susanna finds herself in a pickle. Her mother is about to fix her up to be wed. She wants nothing to do with the typical arrangement leaving her nothing more than a brood mare for an heir and a spare. Susi wants to make up her own mind. Her best friend shares her wild blood and has told her of her own marriage bed. Filled with wanton delight, Susi is determined to find a man of her choosing, even if it is the same one her mother has chosen for her. She needs to be certain they are right for each other, both in the bedroom and out.

Setting up Tony was the easy part. When he decides to bite and take matters into his very capable hands, Susi has to decide if she is willing to play his games. Carnal lust and some very naughty transgressions take place, leading the pair down a bridal path filled with thorns and all that is delicious in love.

This short book was a delightful tale of a woman and man who know what they want and don’t hesitate to take risks to find a life partner suited to their needs. How fun that they were meant for each other. Better bedded before being wed so they could find out just how well meant they were. With spankings and outlandish behavior that would have scandalized both sets of parents, Tony and Susi forge a bond of Master and sub forever bound together in holy matrimony.

This was a fun read and I couldn’t put it down.

Review:

If you want a detailed exploration of the polyamorous BDSM lifestyle, be sure to check out Shakir Rashaan’s Awakening, Book 1 in the Chronicles of the Nubian Underworld.

The story is told in the first person, switching from the point of view of “Ramesses and Neferterri,. The two main characters are married with real children of their own, but they are also the dominants of a “family” of submissive women, who serve them at various BDSM parties.

They also have friends who are not part of the family and the drama in this story comes primarily from some of those friends as well as the submissives who come and go in the family.

The names can be confusing- Ramesses is also Kane, My Lord and Daddy and Neferterri is Mercedes and Goddess. Some of the slang reflects the fact that the story involves people of color and can be a little hard to follow. Don’t expect a BDSM romance, but there is plenty of action, and lots of emotion. Expect some bondage, ff action, flogging, menage action and more.

Overall, this was an interesting read, mostly because it was so different from the general run of BDSM novels.

Checklist_A is for...When you first started writing, did you have any idea you’d be writing BDSM/kinky books? Do you write in any other genre?

There’s a saying about writing: “Write the book you want to read but can’t find.” That’s what I did, not because I couldn’t find the book I wanted to read, but because back when I discovered digital books in 2004 and 2005 I read every BDSM Romance I could get my hands on. When I ran out of books to read I had no choice but to write my own. The first books I wrote were high fantasy with heavy BDSM elements. I love high fantasy and always hated it when there were these sexy situation that lead to…nothing. Once I’d finished my high fantasy trilogy I moved on to another genre, again bringing BDSM elements to the stories before finally writing a straight BDSM contemporary story. I currently write BDSM, paranormal and straight contemporary romance.

Is there one area of BDSM that you tend to write about more? Why do you think that area creeps into your writing more than some others?

I like to write about strong characters whose sexuality, including their kinks, are an outlet for them. I rarely write about people who live a BDSM lifestyle 24/7, only because what fascinates me is the difficult balance that people have to strike between the darkness and intensity of their sexual desires and their life outside the bedroom.

Do you write BDSM/kink erotica based on what you find interesting or sexy, or do you write more for your audience?

I write what I find sexy, with the caveat that there are very few things I don’t find sexy in the right context. I wanted to push myself, and in some ways my readers, out of the comfort zone (and into the sexy zone!) by exploring some of the less common kinks and toys. That’s one of the reasons I started writing the BDSM Checklist series of books, which are centered around a BDSM club in LA which has a sexy new “game”—each member of the club is assigned a letter of the alphabet and a partner (or two). Together they have to try every kink, toy or position listed on a BDSM Checklist. Traditionally checklists are used to help players negotiate a scene, and I’ve reference it before, but this is the first time I’m going to take the checklist itself and use it as the driving force in storues. There will be items on the checklist that I won’t address in the books because they’re either hard “no”s for me or because they are such complex issues that I wouldn’t be able to do them justice in a book where I’m also addressing several other items.

Do you do any “hands-on” research when you’re writing BDSM/kinky themed erotica?

“Don’t answer that!” – Lila’s husband (who is a gentleman in the street…).

At this point in your career, do you think you’ll write more BDSM/kinky erotica? Lila Logo_two line

Yes I will! I’m determined to go through every letter of the alphabet with the BDSM Checklist series, which means there are 26 BDSM books I will write over the course of the next few years. Maybe fewer than 26. There aren’t a lot of items for the letter “Q.”

If someone new to your work is going to start with a story, which one would you recommend they recommend they read first?

I’d suggest starting with “Undone Rebel” a contemporary BDSM romance with a heroine who is new to the world of BDSM, but catches on fast. The Undone Lovers series also explores the connection and overlap between BDSM and pinup. For readers who know their way around a playroom or dungeon please check out the BDSM checklist books.

Review:

‘A Taste of Winter’ gets its name from the main character, Alaina Winter. Alaina is a designer and restorer of old buildings, who happens to work for a pan in the ass, micro managing boss named Ryan Marquis. What Alaina doesn’t know is Ryan has become obsessed with Alaina physically, as well as emotionally. He sees her as an Ice Queen that he is dying to melt.

When Alaina finally accepts an invitation she received from South Carolina’s notorious Red Mask Society she has no idea that her boss Ryan is the one behind her receiving the invitation in the first place. There does seem to be a little stepping over the line by Ryan, but Gia Dawn does reel it back in. What come to light is Ryan’s total fixation and yes, love for Alaina.

The BDSM showcased in ‘A Taste of Winter’ is on the mild side. Mostly it consists of power exchange, the Dom/sub form of BDSM. One of the parts that is bothersome however, is wile in the masks at the Red Mask Society is Ryan having Alaina call him Master. Sir would make sense, but Master? It’s one of those points that will bother readers who are involved in the lifestyle. However, it is the only false note in the story, and will only matter to certain readers.

The sex scenes in ‘A Taste of Winter’ are well written, but not overly explicit. Do not expect reading this story will get you all worked up and in a sexual froth. It won’t. The sex is a definite reflection of the feelings Ryan has for Alaina. In other words, the sex is toned down BDSM; more on the softer side of play rather than the full BDSM side. Which works fine with the story between the two characters, as they are attracted to each other which comes out as tension.

‘A Taste of Winter’ is a fun, light read. It works well as sweet erotic fiction. Definitely more of heavy petting  and curling up in front of the fire than burning up the sheets and breaking the bed frame.

Review:

If you’re looking for a hot & steamy read look no further. Delayed Penalty is part of Ms. Sommerland’s, Darthmouth Cobra Series. The book contains a recommendation that the series be read in order, and this is book five in the six book series.I had previously read books one & two in the series. While there are subplots that deal with information in previous books, Ms. Sommerland does a wonderful job of explaining them so that readers who are new to the series, will still enjoy the book. I will say that when I was reading the story, it made me want to go back & read the books that I missed.

First off, it doesn’t get much hotter than a Canadian hockey team that has its own private BDSM club. One might assume that all the members of the team are super dominant, but they would be very wrong. Not only does Ms. Sommerland find a way to tell story about BDSM, she’s able to break away from the stereotypical images of D/s relationships that have been traditionally portrayed.

The main story is about best friends who discover that they’re in love with the same woman. The girl’s name is Akira, and she meets Cortland when he discovers her lying next to her car in parking lot. She’s just been mugged & is having a flashback to when she was raped. Cort makes sure that Akira makes it home safely, then stays to enjoy a drink with Akira.

When Cort hears Akira discussing relationships with her roommate, he overhears them discussing a BDSM relationship. After hanging out for a while, Akira & Cort make plans to go on a date later in the week. Then Cort leaves to find his best friend Ford, so he can find out what kind of problem he needs his help with.

After Cort is unable to get a hold of Ford by phone, he decides to go to his house. Unfortunately, Ford isn’t there and the apartment is trashed with blood everywhere. Cort rushes to the bar that Ford owns, and discovers that it’s closed and Ford is in the hospital after being brutally attacked.

Eventually Cort & Ford that the girl they’re both head over heels for, is the same girl. After initially trying to convince Akira that he’s bad for her, Cort realizes that he’s in love with her.

Will Cort & Ford be able to find a way to maintain their friendship, once they discover  that they love the same girl? Will Cort continue to make sacrifices in order to ensure that Ford’s hands will remain clean of crime, or will the man Ford had believed to be his father be successful in ending Ford’s life? I highly recommend that you read Delayed Penalty to find out. Also, be prepared to become just as enthralled by the sub-plots. You can’t go wrong when Hockey players, team owners & BDSM are involved.

bdsmcover*peeks head into room* “Wow! Check it out. This is a slave’s nirvana. Look at all these hunky men in leather.”

*wanders further into the room to check out the covers on the side bar*   “Damn I wonder how many of these books, slave would like to read.”

*pauses* “Oh hi.  I bet you’re wondering who I am.  I’m Livvy and I happen to be Dakota Trace’s muse or as she calls me…her pain in the ass. But I prefer Mistress to the girl next door.”

*smirks* “But I suppose her view is true enough since I get results.  But today I’m not here to talk about writing techniques. I’m here because of her newest release, Healing Hark.“

*glances around* “But before I get too far off track – have you seen a six foot blond submissive? He’s got these to die for curls and blue eyes? No? Well damn, he’s supposed to be here with me. I wonder if slave will give me his reward…”

“Not a chance.”  Bryan Sterling walks into the room, trailed by a huge male with a long black braid. “Sir thought it might be a good idea if he accompanied me today.”

*swallows hard at the massive Native American* “Ah, okay.  It’s good to see you, Hark. I’m surprised Bryan was able to pry you away from your work -“

Hark gives her a faint smile. “He didn’t have to pry anything. Unlike you. What’s this I hear he had to cart you off at the last stop because you were going to steal some poor woman’s Easter Bunny? That’s not in the holiday spirit.”

*flushes*  “Well – it’s not fair! Slave is giving everyone else chocolate and BOOKS!”

Hark nodded. “Of course she is. Like today she’s offering up a free copy of Myrna’s Submission to one lucky commenter.”

*glares at the men* “And let’s not forget the 8 book set of books she’s giving away at the WRAP-UP Party next week.”  *mutters under breath about irresponsible authors who gave away everything for free*

“What do you think, Sir? Is the muse being an ungrateful little wench?”  Bryan sets down a huge platter of double chocolate fudge cupcakes.

“I do believe you’re correct, little one.”  Hark brushes a kiss against Bryan’s temple.

Bryan nods sagely. “I think she needs a spanking. When I sass off like that, I get my bottom warmed.”

Hark chuckles. “Of course you do.”  He lightly swats Bryan on the rear.  “Master warned me about your tricky ways, subbie.”

“He did?” Bryan leans heavily against Hark’s side before the other man tips his head up for a kiss.

“Aw, come on. Get a room you two.  We’re supposed to be talking about the book.” *muse stomps foot*

Hark sighs. “Yep. A spanking most definitely.”  Then lunges for the muse. bdsmreviewsmemecard

“Shit!”  *flees, barely evading Hark’s grasp.*

Bryan chuckles as Hark chases the muse out of the room.  “Worked like a charm. Now I can finish up this stop.  As mentioned before Ms. Dakota is giving away a complete set of her Doms of Chicago series on the 25th.  So be sure to record the number in the corner of the meme card in the rafflecopter form for a chance to win. “Smiles. “And don’t forget to comment for a chance to win Myrna’s Submission.”

Loud feminine squeal distracts him.

“And that’s my cue to head out.  Enjoy the cupcakes and I hope you have a great start to the week!”

Despite being in a long-term relationship with his Master and lover, Diachi Rai, CEO Bryan Sterling is feeling restless, and it all has to do with his Master’s former submissive. Ever since Harkalone “Hark” Akula entered their home, Bryan’s life has been turned upside down. He’s acting out, standing up to his master – even courting punishment. All because of his need to help Hark.

Diachi is a man of many secrets, and Hark happens to be one of his darkest. As his first submissive, Hark was partially responsible for molding him into the powerful but discerning Dom he’s become. But when he was unable to give Hark what he needed, Diachi let Hark go, rather than share him. Now Hark is back, scarred and darker than Diachi could ever remember him being, and in dire need of a healing touch.

Hark is at the end of his tether. After losing his family: his Dom, their submissive and child along with his home, all he wants is to be left alone, not dropped in his former master’s lap like a child. But now that he’s there, he’s not only tempted by Diachi and Bryan, he’s also being drawn into their world. The question now, is will he be able to stay?

Supermodel Helena Flores didn’t plan to fall in love with her Marine pen-pal, but that’s exactly what happens when she starts corresponding Seth Morgan. He’s funny, kind, and so hot she can’t stand it. In an effort to see if Seth can like her for her who she is on the inside—and not just as a swimsuit model—Helena pretends her job in the fashion industry is behind the camera rather than in front of it. But soon it’s time for Seth to come home and Helena tells him the truth, hoping he can forgive her deception.

Seth Morgan had been falling in love with his sweet and feisty pen-pal for months. When he finds out who Helena is, he wonders what she sees in him. Worse, when he meets her in the flesh, the reality is even better than his fantasy. But what can you do to keep the girl who can have anyone? Seth hopes the answer is a seduction so thorough and pleasurable she won’t ever want him to leave.

Review:

I loved the storyline of a military man and the supermodel! Loved how they got to know each other via emails and eventually skype. The BDSM theme to the book was very light, but you could tell where the author was going with it. If the book were longer, not just a short novella, perhaps it would have been better. It was a good short book and worth the read.
