Review:

This is a solid eleven-story anthology with good writing, engaging stories, and a nice variety of themes. I recommend it for fans of contemporary erotica and modern Anglophiles.

Each of the stories has something to offer, and they are surprisingly varied. Each makes convincing and imaginative use of London’s unique topography, and shows a slightly different side of the legendary city.

“Double Exposure” by Jay Lawrence opens the anthology with a solid shot, a really enjoyable little voyeuristic tale that sets the stage nicely for things to come. Notable offerings include “Falling Down” by James “Grim” Desborough, where a game of chase that begins on the tube becomes some severely hot rough-and-ready sex in London’s seedy alleys. Also, “The Woman From Aldgate West” by Neil James Hudson was a wonderful, odd sort of supernatural little story in the weird tale vein with an interesting premise and lovely tone. Frances Jones’ “Artefacts” would have been at home in a supernatural-themed anthology, though there’s nothing explicitly supernatural about it, the implications are beautifully done. “Lost Property”, by Elizabeth Coldwell, answers the question of what happens to things left on the subway, and who returns them to their owners; in this case, a suitcase full of some very, very naughty things.

It’s really hard to spotlight the standouts, when they are almost all, to a one, superb. Yes, there are a couple of duds, but there’s no need to pick on them when the anthology is so solid, with eleven stories to choose from. And, well, what didn’t work for me might really work for someone else.

Review:

This was a fun and light-hearted change of pace from the heavy “Me Dom, You sub,” many of the BDSM novels are.

At 23, Marianne, new to Boston, has never had an orgasm during sex. She goes to a club to see if maybe kinky sex would be the key. She attends a slave auction and is purchased by “Mr. Woody.” The session is all she dreamed it could be and more. But the next day her determination to keep her work life and private life separate falls apart as Mr. Woody is none other than her boss, Jack Marchetti.

Owner of a string of successful retail stores, Jack is determined to keep his relationships limited to just sex. He still hasn’t recovered from losing his wife five years. His determination crumbles in the reality of the bliss to be found with “Claudia,” who, he discovers, is the new employee in his office.

Can the feisty bookworm from Vermont find a lasting happiness with an older man, who is already rumored to have a girlfriend?

While Jack sometimes lets his inner Dom out, he is not someone bogged down with protocol or playacting. Both of them love the intense sex they have and they don’t need impact play or torture to keep each other happy, but the scenes are hot enough that such things aren’t needed.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read and I will look for more from this author. The story contains mild BDSM, anal play and exhibitionism.

Synopsis:

As a sub, Shara wants to prove to herself that she’s the one who is really in control. Shara is about to get a paddling, one that will test her pain threshold and take her to new levels. The stud-covered paddle will undoubtedly hurt, but she’s determined to show her Dom, John, that she can take whatever he can give her. John is determined to show Shara that saying their safe word when she can’t take any more is an act of trust, not one of her being weak. Her safety is his primary concern and he will stop play if he feels she’s approaching the point where even subspace won’t save her. Together they go on a journey of discovery, where Shara battles with relinquishing that final nugget of herself she’s always held back. Will she trust him enough to admit he was right and she was wrong?

Review:

Hot! I love this story and the message it sends. Shara has wanted to test her pain threshold and tonight she gets to do just that. John is worried that she will not safe word if the pain becomes too much.

The chemistry between Shara and John was explosive. The sex scenes were hot. I enjoyed the message the short story seemed to tell at the same time. Having your Dom know you will safe word if it’s necessary is an important part of safe play.

The writing was great. The story was well formed. At forty-five pages, this was a great short story that packs a punch.

Review:

This exploration of a D/s relationship between a fiercely independent woman and a dedicated Dom is a good read, with a satisfying story and a fully developed relationship between the main characters.

Julia is shocked at the wedding of her best friend to see her friend kneel and ask for her husband’s collar. Before she can leave, Marcus steps forward to answer her questions-and offers to show her a night of submission.

After escaping a relationship that verged on abusive, Julia isn’t eager to lose herself to another man. But Marcus offers a temptation she can’t refuse-one night as a submissive.

The one night leads to several, and Marcus realizes he wants Julia full time. But Julia still insists she doesn’t want that. Can the two of them overcome their differing viewpoints?

The book is hot and contains bondage, spanking, flogging, tawsing, and more.

Synopsis:

Kat is looking to re-launch her career as a rocker after breaking up with her ex and her band.  She takes time out for a quick distracting thrill by pretending to be the perfect submissive at BDSM club Le Petit Mort. She quickly sets her sights on Brett as a Dom who can give her what she needs and send her on her way.

Brett’s trying to figure out why Kat thinks she needs to pretend to be something she isn’t. He decides to discover the real woman behind the tough facade, because he can’t resist a challenge, but he doesn’t realize that the real Kat might be the perfect submissive for him after all.

Review:

‘Blue Desire’ is the third book in the Le Petit Mort series by Sindra van Yssel. This was a great read and I had a hard time putting this story down. I read it in one evening. I loved that while it was part of a series it could be read as a standalone without any confusion.

The chemistry between Kat and Brett is amazing. I loved that no matter how many barriers Kat put up Brett was willing to pull them down. This is a couple that I could see making in last.

The sex scenes were molten hot. I enjoyed how honest Kat was with Brett in some ways and worried about her inexperience in others. Brett could read Kat so easily and was not an over the top Dom. Both characters were very realistic.

Review:

Maggie ends up with an official and an unofficial Secret Santa at the office. Sean has always found Maggie attractive, but knows it will be difficult to find a woman that can handle his awkwardness and his kink. After seeing a magazine in her purse, Sean thinks Maggie might be the one.

I loved Secret Santa Sir. The author did a wonderful job with the Secret Santa theme including the very creative play on the Twelve Days of Christmas theme BDSM style. Not only was it creative, it also provided the scenes that Sean came up with for Maggie to experience. There was a major safety issue though when you live this lifestyle and that was that Maggie went to a private hotel room not knowing who she was meeting.

The chemistry between the two is scorching hot. I liked the fact that the two were willing to learn about each other as individuals and not just within the BDSM context.  They were willing to experiment, and Sean was very good about making sure Maggie understood she was to use her safe words as necessary.

Some of the secondary characters were interesting, and I did have to laugh at some of the creative solutions that some of the couples came up with using exercise equipment. When you don’t have a lot of room for both a dungeon and a gym, this could be the way to go.

Synopsis:

Reeling from the loss of her boyfriend, job, and self-respect, Sami Peters is shocked to find herself at the inaugural BDSM Boot Camp at Clifftop Fantasies. If that isn’t enough, she’s partnered with not one but two semipro football players, Andrew Jackson “AJ” Weatherford and Lance “Crash” Carter.

AJ is pining over his ex, and the normally happy-go-lucky Crash is distressed by the amount of vegetables in the cooking at Clifftop. Sami finds herself taking classes with these two in rope bondage, needle play, and scene negotiation, among other alarming topics.

On top of everything else, Sami’s best friend Carly and most of the Grandpointe leather community are under attack by a moral crusader. Can Sami, AJ, and Crash save the community and themselves by exploring this new lifestyle together? Should she submit to the guys as they learn to be Doms, or are they just out slumming?

Review:

‘Double Dom Fantasies’ is the third book in the BDSM Menage Fantasies series by Cassidy Browning. This book can be read as a standalone, but it does help to read as part of the series.  The author did a great job writing this story. She did a lot of research into the BDSM lifestyle and all of the different fetishes to be able to explain it in the manor she did.

The chemistry between Crash, AJ, and Sami was off the charts.  They were a great fit together.  Without AJ and Crash, I am not sure that Sami would have taken any of the classes that were offered at the boot camp.  I loved how Crash embraced being a dom and stopped all the fumbling around.  The ending was great and heart melting.  I hope as the series goes on that we find out more about this trio.

Review:

Wiste found a way to put herself in bondage and have a friend release her, but the key breaks in the handcuffs so they call to have someone get Wiste out of them. Who should appear but Matt, the boy that broke her heart.

Tied to Home brings two people that loved each other back together even though they parted badly. Both have grown up a lot. Matt gets on Wiste’s case because she is putting herself in a situation that could go bad with no one around to get her out is something happens. Matt is also willing to show Wiste what it really means to be submissive in the bedroom.

There were times that I wasn’t sure who was having more fun, Wiste or Matt. The scenes between the two are hot and show a lot of different ways of using rope. The author went over some basics though I didn’t see a mention of a safe word. She did, however, go out of her way to make sure there were no circulation problems with some of the intricate scenes.

I did have one small problem toward the end as it seemed like a scene ended and then suddenly a new life plan emerged with no transition from one to the next. I do think that anyone who enjoys being bound will definitely enjoy reading this one. I know I am going to be reading it again.

Short description

What do you do if the people who are supposed to shield you when you’re at your most vulnerable are the ones who hurt you the deepest? A modern twist on the myth of Hades and Persephone set in Sydney, ‘Calling Pomegranate’ is an exploration of grief through two very different people trying to deal with the loss of their parents.

Review:

When two people who pretty much dislike each other on sight end up having a night of sex that is more than a little disastrous, where do you go from there?

Love hurts. A lot. For Sean and Cary, a chance meeting at a party for Sean’s friend leads to a relationship that will test the boundaries of love and despair and everything in between. A modern day twist on the tale of Persephone and Hades, this book had a bite that really hooked me after the first couple of pages.

Sean is an out of work trust fund baby who is still reeling from the death of his mother years before. Cary is a co-worker of Trudy, wife of Sean’s best friend. Animosity between Trudy and Sean can go under the category of epic, it’s so intense. When Cary comes onto Sean at a party at his best friend’s house and they have the worst sex ever, it would seem that would be it. Not quite. Another chance encounter finds the two paired up again and inexplicably they begin to see each other.

Review:

When a woman with a flair for using the f bomb and a corset fixation meets a man of means who is determined to get under said corset, you have a story that will keep you reading long into the night.

Zara is a woman on a mission. Her charity for vintage clothing is important to her, much to the frustration of her wealthy father. When she meets Charles, the Earl of Woodhouse at her first charity function, he is captivated by her beauty and spirit. The vintage dress she is in could only be worn by wearing a corset. When the two meet, sparks begin to fly in more than one way.

Charles is a complicated man, and one that you could spend awhile delving into. When he first unlaces Zara, the two can’t get enough of each other. So much so that Zara has her first orgasm. The real world comes back into focus when Zara’s father forces them into a marriage neither is ready for. The spice and sex may be smoking, but there are other issues that need to be worked out between the two before any kind of balance is going to happen.

The kink factor is mildly hot and focuses on the shared corset fetish between Zara and Charlie. Zara loves how the corsets make her feel. Charlie has a dual edged thing happening. He uses the corset to objectify Zara in some ways and put distance between them. He will have to decide in the end if he can combine his fear of intimacy and his passion for a beautiful woman who loves him. The author does a superb job of bringing you into the essence of the moment each time Zara puts a corset on and each time Charlie unlaces her. Delicious. There are some other scenes with toys that were fun too.
