Review:

The Connoisseur, a romance of sexual captivity is a first novel by J C Avery. Jack, the connoisseur of the title and self styled ‘gentleman Dominant’ runs a very lucrative business with his partner, Jane. They run a match making service for wealthy Dominants, who place orders for the perfect slave girl who will fulfill all their needs and fantasies.

Jacks role gives him a great deal of job satisfaction and is extremely lucrative, enabling him to live in isolated luxury in his Brownstone. The early chapters which describe the lengths that Jane and Jack go to in order to identify and train the slaves are amusing and well written. Although I found that his methods did get a bit repetitive towards the end. A little less compliance and a little more resistance from the captives would have added some tension to the plot.

The story is of course a fantasy. All of the captives, including Sarah, the’Feral Filly’ embrace their slavery eagerly and are happy to be shipped to their owners. Jack’s training methods are described with erotic relish, which readers will find very enjoyable.

A lot of BDSM erotica is aimed at women readers but this is a book that may well appeal to straight men. The two trainees Alice and Sarah, with their naturally large breasts and bottoms and otherwise slim bodies are straight out of a 1950′s kinky fantasy. Sarah’s future master has a Frank Fazata fetish and has placed an order for a girl who fits the image made popular by the artist who was responsible for so many Science Fiction and Fantasy book covers.

When well-known chef and restaurateur David Marone recognizes the food critic who just lambasted him in a review on the charity auction block, he bids an inordinate amount to keep her as his slave for three nights. He remembers the haughty foodie from culinary school seventeen years earlier, and relishes the idea of getting even with her for her mean-spirited review. Portia Sands hopes the dark and gorgeous Chicago chef who won the bid for her at the Castle charity auction doesn’t know her real identity as the food critic who tore him apart in a review the week before. She finds he hasn’t changed since culinary school–still arrogant, over-confident and domineering. Unfortunately, he has the same effect on her now as he did then: reducing her to a trembling mass of jello. When he pushes her to her limits, placing her in a cage like a pet, she discovers he knows who she is, and means to exact revenge. She considers calling the Castle safeword to end their time together, but some part of her won’t allow it. Somehow she must survive three nights as his slave and keep her heart in the process. Originally part of the “When the Gavel Falls” Box Set Collection released in January 2015 (Amazon ASIN B00SQAUTXE)…5 full-length “Masters of the Castle” novels for one low price – $9.99.

Review:

Our kinksters are David Dean Marone, chef and restaurateur and Portia Sands, restaurant critic.

After a blistering review by Portia, David is off on vacation to the Castle for a BDSM vacation only to discover Portia is also there as a submissive to be auctioned for charity.

I felt a lot of concern and tension as initially David seeks to buy Portia to punish her for her nasty review, but the author quickly reveals these two have history and chemistry that won’t let the punishments be vindictive in an unsafe way.

There’s objectification, pet play, lots of spanking, humiliation, figging and even sharing with another male.

There are no real surprises here; the story is predictable but very enjoyable. The BDSM is hot and heavy throughout the story.

Review:

Long Shot is one of a series of novellas by different authors, set in the community of Corbin’s Bend. A housing co-op located North West of Denver, Colorado, where the residents are Spanko’s and the prevailing dynamic is Domestic Discipline. It’s an interesting concept, a community where the residents are free to live the spanking and DD lifestyle openly.

One year after her divorce, Abby comes to live with her widowed Great Aunt Quincy, who runs an antique shop in Corbin’s Bend. In short order, Abby meets handsome, single, Harris Montgomery who introduces her to spanking and some mild BDSM play.

Harris proposes a Domestic Discipline relationship, which Abby eagerly accepts. For DD to work successfully, surely emotional intimacy and the stability of a long term relationship is required? Harris is your standard commitment phobic male, who initially wants to limit their interaction to scening and sex. How this is compatible with DD is a mystery to me.

I’m aware that the novella format limits the amount of back story the author provides but even so, I felt that the main characters were very underdeveloped. Abby in particular is a dull girl. Married to her high school sweetheart straight after graduation, her lack of worldly experience makes her seem boring rather than innocent.

By far the most interesting character is Bohemian Aunt Quincy, widowed at 63 after a long DD marriage and still full of life and energy, she surely deserves a book of her own. I’m sure it would be more interesting than this somewhat formulaic tale.

Review:

Sarah made her decision to stay in the Dragon’s Lair. She is the only captured female who is ever offered this opportunity and she turned it down. This is because she mistakenly believes Richard will become her owner and the two of them will be together in a life of kinky happiness. When this does not happen, she throws a temper tantrum and ends up screwing herself royally.

The first book in this series starts out promising. This second one is a letdown. The BDSM scenes are still good and kinky. They are enjoyable with the humiliation and corporal punishment. What brought this follow up book down is the plot. It’s as if Ms. Ashley rushed the story and threw together several subplots which didn’t mesh well together.

A trusted guard for Dragon’s Lair suddenly is no longer trustworthy. This is odd and felt forced.  It is used specifically to cause conflict between Richard, Julia and the Dragon Master. Is anyone surprised by the reveal of who the head guy is for this human trafficking organization? Not really. What really throws a reader is Sarah’s change in behavior at the end of the story. The way she can suddenly be so mature and come across as a sexually trained submissive yet a strong dominant partner for the Dragon Master is just bizarre. Her ability to understand the nuances and help him save face is not believable.

Instead of bringing this Dragon Lair to a conclusion in this manner, here’s what have been more enjoyable to read. More sexual training of Sarah instead of her being “institutionalized”. Julia taking the second girl and forcing Sarah to take on a role of dominating. This would have brought some sexy f/f scenes. And it would build the foundation of Sarah becoming the Mistress of Dragon’s Lair. Exploring her dominance in this story would be delightful. This would allow a third book where the Dragon Master is revealed and Sarah’s adjustment in being lied to for so long. With this quick wrap up, the story leaves a reader feeling disappointed.

Review:

A dull boring life changed based on one decision – handcuffing oneself to a car. Sarah is a young woman just graduated from college. She’s living her mother’s dream life and not sure if she wants to stay on course. When her fiancé, Luke, surprises her with a note to handcuff herself to her car door after work one night, her entire world changes. She’s forced into a world where nothing makes sense. Sexually violated over and over again, Britta starts to learn her new role in life.

The world building in this story is light. It is a common sex slavery capture theme. The sex slavery organization is called Dragon’s Lair and run by the mysterious Dragon Master. The hints dropped about the Dragon Master makes a reader guess who this person may be or how they are affiliated with someone in Sarah’s life.

There is decent character building with both Sarah and her supporting cast – the sexual fiends taming and tormenting her. What really makes this story good is the sex. The detailed scenes including ageplay and medical play is so good. Ms. Ashley pens smoking hawt scenes enticing readers who love humiliation mixed with vulnerability. This is a book which should be added to a medical play fetish’s spank bank. It’s medium level in BDSM torment and graphic humiliation yet it’s Sarah’s responses which will elicit a wave of lust. For submissives who enjoy being restrained whilst all their body parts and orifices are exposed and controlled, this is a panty wetting fantasy.

The pace of this story is good as it moves from capture to training. The indoctrination and brain washing process is also well written. It’s not repetitive nor lecturing. What may frustrate readers is the ending. It leaves a reader expecting more to the story. It’s clear this is only the first in the series. The next book in the series can’t come soon enough. If it included more graphic medical play as well as more intense ABDL, it would kick up the heat. Maybe there will be some pet play. Hopefully there will be sexual training which will be both humiliation and degrading. I’m hoping for F/f with the nurse and other female captives! I am very eager to see how Ms. Ashley continues Sarah’s erotic education. Recommended for kinky readers who enjoy ageplay and medical play.

Re-visit Maren Smith’s “Castle” in a unique melding of two great talents. In collaboration with Ms. Smith, Anastasia Vitsky places Hana and Mira, a couple first introduced in “Desire in Any Language” in the “Masters of the Castle” world where Mira’s secret, shameful desires will come true – whether she likes it or not.

Vacationing at Master Marshall’s world-renowned Castle should have spelled Fantasy Land, but for Mira the trip means paying a debt. She promised to work hard at her translator’s certificate course while her advisor went on maternity leave, but distraction arrives in the form of her first love. Diplomat Hana Takahashi, from Desire in Any Language, captures Mira’s total attention. Between Hana’s stringent embassy security and Mira’s draconian school dormitory curfew, their stolen kisses drive Mira wild with desire. Hana makes a bet with Mira: keep up with her schoolwork or take a trip of Hana’s choice, according to Hana’s rules. No veto power.

When Mira presents her inadequate end-of-term report, Hana books a dream vacation – of Hana’s dreams. Safe within the Castle, the elaborate role playing kink haven, Hana turns Mira into her little girl. Complete with a private nurse, playroom with its nanny in charge, and a schoolroom filled with naughty pupils and a stern teacher, the Castle’s ageplay wing reduces Mira to a child from the moment of her arrival. Hana’s word is law, and all of the Castle employees carry out her orders for Mira.

However, Mira’s natural resistance leads to tantrums, defiance, and spankings from every adult who assists with her care. When she encounters a tutor who triggers her deepest fears, she must face her residual trauma over the duplicitous “Mistress Susan.” Is Mira ready for the maternal nurturing offered by Hana, or will her unhealed wounds drive everyone away? Can she become Hana’s little girl, or will she safeword out of the Castle to return to everyday life… without Hana? Will there be a miracle for Mira?

Review:

This short book focuses on f/f type BDSM with touching on age play, using names like “little girl” and over the knee spankings for being naughty. It appears as if this is a book from a series so I wasn’t sure of the history of the characters and that made me feel pretty lost. There’s dressing up and some bratty behavior along the way by a few characters. If you are into this series than maybe this would make more sense than trying to tackle it as a stand alone.

Review:

For the first half of Anastasia Vitsky’s Editorial Board, had the copy I was reading not been given to me to review by a publisher that specializes in kinky books, I would not have known that the book contained erotic content. It seemed to be no more than a mildly interesting tale about an author suffering from writer’s block and performance anxiety who is making her boss’s and new editor’s lives miserable with her prima donna attitude and excuses for not completing her assignments. The closest thing to a clue that there might be some sexual naughtiness afoot comes fairly deep into the story in an emailed rant sent by Spring in which she implies that Rachel probably secured her job as editor by sleeping with Merry, the owner.

Soon after that episode Spring quits and begins wallowing in self-pity, fully expecting that her writing career is over. To her surprise, Rachel shows up to save her from herself. Thankfully for the smut junkies who are the potential buyers of this book, she doesn’t just use reason or threats to prod her errant writer to get with the program. Indeed, she uses something much more compelling, the editorial board, a small paddle that fits comfortably in her hand and commands strict compliance from recalcitrant brats such as Spring.

Sadly, most of this motivational activity is only touched upon lightly. The balance of the book primarily involves Spring struggling with her writing issues and Rachel “encouraging” her to stay focused. Alas, she reaches another impasse in her writing and begins to despair. Rachel comes to the rescue and as the story winds down she announces that they are to be lovers, which precipitates the literary equivalent of fade-to-black.

Overall, this story is well written and fairly interesting. But from an erotica standpoint, it is rather tame. Whether or not this is intentional, it seems to be written to appeal to a reader with little or no experience with this subject matter. Whereas I am a proponent of using restraint and subtlety in erotica, this is way too genteel to hold the interest of a large contingent of erotic literature readers, including the readers who frequent this site.
