Why BDSM?

Most people don’t know the history of my little Holiday Doms Series. I actually had no intention of writing a story after Bondage on the 4th of July. Mostly because the story was only intended as a quick holiday read for a holiday most people don’t write themed books about. I felt bad it was forgotten considering it is my favorite holiday.

Fireworks? FUN! BBQ? FUN! Light drinking? FUN! Bondage? FUN! Bound_FINALCOVERB

So, I stuffed the story full of not just some light BDSM play but also a fun little ménage that I dashed in to give it an extra dose of fun.

It was primarily just a fun, quick, read, that could make people smile, and maybe make a few people care. What I never told anyone but my husband (who writes with me) is that the characters invaded me. I had Kenny, Tom, and yes, even Millie screaming in my head, stomping their feet, asking for their stories. Oh, and Millie REALLY wants to get married! She’s a little upset the Christmas story wasn’t a Vegas Wedding. I had to sit down my impulsive submissive and let her know that she deserves more than a Vegas quickie, she replied with, “But quickies are fun!” –but I digress.

I had to tell more stories. First came, Tom, with Halloween Submission. He is my favorite. For some reason I just like this normally very emotional man that is one sexy, sexy Dom. Then came Kenny—Oh, my poor broken Kenny, in A Slave for Christmas.  They all had something to say, and they all wanted their own submissives to play with. So, out of this little storm, in a market saturated with BDSM came the Bound Collection.

Review:

When friends and family conspire to get Tom and Lucy together will love blossom? A special Halloween costume party brings Tom and Lucy together and enjoying themselves. Will they continue to enjoy it all once they know their true identities?

This story may be short but it still packs a punch. The characters are brought vividly to life and emotions run high. So much happens in such a  short while. Both Tom and Lucy have intense feelings and are afraid of what the other will think of them. When the two find themselves together at Halloween their worlds turn upside down. The reader gets a glimpse into their lives with this book. The author does a wonderful job of pulling the reader into the story yet the quick pace of the story and its resolution makes the reader feel like you are missing something. A little more story development would have been nice. All the characters make you take notice, from Tom and Lucy to Millie. Bonnie Bliss has begun a nice series with this book. Many readers will enjoy the world she has created in Chicago for these books.

Review:

D.G. has landed herself in a twisted version of OZ. If you have not read the first book in the series, I highly recommend it. (Yes, I went back and bought it I was so intrigued with the series.) If you have seen The Wizard of Oz, then hold onto your ruby slippers, because you won’t be in Kansas anymore.

D.G. is off to find the Wizard. On her way down the yellow brick road, she finds herself parched and extremely horny.  Her new collar has a mind of its own and has crafted a dress fit for a naughty adventure.  That is just where it lands the inquisitive D.G. Two men come along dragging a slave and D.G. watches as they teach the sexy young woman how to properly be a submissive. Hot, bothered and ready to jump the nearest fence post, D.G. plays voyeur.

Further adventures ensue when D.G. encounters a scarecrow with stalking issues, two evil crows and we finally meet the Wizard, a Dom with an attitude, itching to claim D.G. for his own.

This book was hot. Reading the first page prompted me to go and buy the first book in the series and I am so glad I did. Lusty witches wearing dildo heeled slippers, raunchy little munchkins and some very smoking hot f/f sex paved the way down the yellow brick road.  This book was completely evocative, excessive in the  horn doggery department, and totally waved the kink flag as high as you can see it. I can’t wait to get to what happens with the Tin Man and The Lion. Oh my.

Blurb:

Millie Newton has been in love with her neighbor and best friend, Brad Cooper for as long as she can remember. She harbored a secret crush for years, hoping for the one chance with him. It was stolen from her when he enlisted in the Marines, and was sent away. The last time he was home on leave she missed him. This time, at the 4th of July block party she knows it is her chance to get what she wants. Only a surprise has come along with Brad, his buddy, Kenny Willet. She has no clue that Brad is a Dominant in the BDSM scene in Chicago, and Kenny is a Sexual Sadist. Millie simply decides its time. When Brad and Kenny decide they want her together, fireworks erupt in a 4th of July spectacular that none of them anticipated.

REVIEW:

Bonnie handles writing a shorter story very well. Was I hoping for more afterwards? Well, yes. But I think with the length of the book it was well balanced.

We got just enough background on Millie and Brad to not be in the dark of their feelings for one another. One thing I do wish is that we learned a bit more about Kenny. He was very much an equal part of the threesome, but I feel like he was in the background for most of the story.

The book has a relaxed tone and within the first few lines it’s apparent that the author is writing for a mainstream audience. The story mirrors the reader by having the main character reading erotica from her e reader. The plot follows the events of a couple through out the course of one day and the BDSM sessions they have while the kids are at school. The tone of the book is that of an almost pure descriptive narrative with very little sense of emotion. You find yourself reading the sex but not following in your mind and the writing struggles to capture the readers full imagination. The book unfortunately reads as though the author has omitted the power and emotional states and actions that BDSM sessions can carry.

A simple quick book for a reader who wants a gently voyeuristic walk into how a possible BDSM relationship can work in a domestic setting.

Marie and Neil have been learning about BDSM. Marie anticipates the time her husband will let her see what he has been working on in the basement.

This was a fun read. I enjoyed Marie’s enthusiasm as well as her childlike enthusiasm for some things. Neil was so devious but in a fun sort of way. I have to give the author credit as she painted very vivid pictures of the scenes between Neil and Marie. I felt I was right in the dungeon with Marie and I would like to have that dungeon in my own house. If you need a good quick fun read then read this book. I will be reading this one again.

Note: This work is a novella.
