Review:

This book is a good beginner’s look at the world of BDSM. It touches on many of the important aspects of the lifestyle but does not go into much detail or lengthy explanations on any of the subject matter. AS KINKY AS YOU WANNA BE YOUR GUIDE TO SAFE, SANE AND SMART BDSM does include some interviews, a word glossary and a resource guide that gives readers some more things to look at after reading the book. These give readers a glimpse into a world and lifestyle that many enjoy.

With the recent infatuation and interest in this world this light book is an easy read that works as a nice introduction to a kinkier lifestyle and gives readers some things to think about in a new way and may help with easing into the communication on some subjects that some people would like to try but are afraid or do not know how to broach the subject.

A few erotic short stories are also added to the book and were well written. I was glad to see that things like safety and communication were also included. This book is a quick look at another world for some readers. It is not a technical how to book but a good way for beginners to dip their toes into the big pool.

Review:

I loved all the stories in the anthology so rating each one won’t really matter. I have never heard of any of the authors and each story had its own unique voice. It was very exciting to read these true gay sex confessions.

From the first story HAIR, SCALP AND SKIN OIL MAKES FOR GREAT LUBE where the author’s inner dialog was written with such desperation and pent up passion it was palpable. Next was MOMENTARILY which was like a quiet storm. Like a moment before the storm actually, all still and eerie then the lightening crashes and you’re blinded. When you blink it’s all over. BOB AND DWAYNE’S DADDYBEAR was a really good “switch” story. Gay erotica has its own terms for the dominant and submissive types. I so loved envisioning the description of the dominant daddy type being tied in bondage and clipped with clothes pins from head to toe until he was in tears. I can select a few others I enjoyed like KEEP ON TRUCKING, BORN LIAR, and NIPPLES ARE THE NEW DICK to name a few. There are somewhere around 19 authors in this anthology. A little something for everyone.

I suppose if you’re a fan of being a voyeur, this sort of puts you in that position. You can visualize the words and catch a glimpse of something very naughty, totally erotic and very sexy. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick bite of gay pleasure and/or some new M/M authors to add to your reading list.

I am a big fan of fairy tales and if you add in some kink and I am a goner. This anthology delights the reader with both of these. It deals with many different princesses from the tales that we grew up on and more. I truly enjoyed going back to those worlds and finding a different take on their stories.  Each story is a good read and together they make a wonderful anthology.

I have always had a soft spot for the stories that involve Beauty and the Beast and Red Riding Hood like characters and tales so it was no surprise that the tales revolving around those characters are my favorites in this book. With each story we are brought into a wondrous world where you may recognize the people or place but you get to see them in a whole new light.  Sex is a big factor in these stories but so is trust and love, after all they are fairy tales and what would one be without them?  These stories are engaging and well written. They pull the reader into their numerous magical worlds and keep you entertained all the way to the end. I was take on an adventure with each story and loved it.

Review:

This is an anthology and here are some highlights of some of the stories included:

HOLLIS by Jove Belle

This BDSM themed short had my attention from the moment Jen found Special Agent Hollis’ dominance a turn on. This hot little bit does not disappoint. If you are a fan of moderate BDSM with use of paper clips as nipple clamps and other everyday items as a sexy toys this story is for you.

DRESS UNIFORM by Teresa Noelle Roberts

This was a take on a different kind of fetish I am familiar with where the dominant stays clothed and the sub is not. Uniform fetish was the highlight of this story and also the characters were likable.

CHARITY AND SPLENDOR by Andrea Dale

This was the kind of love and family romance I remember reading back when I had no idea there was erotica. Monica is the sweet single yet older Mom of a teen. Rosa is the sexy crush. I would love to read and extended version of this.

COP AT MY DOOR by R.G. Emanuelle

This was a sexy “crushing on my fantasy hard” story. I liked the crazy neighbor and even how the cop was a bit shy but aware of the crush. These two were smoking hot together!

HEALING HAND by Lynn Nixon

This was a very touching story. An erotic romance where the characters were well written and the sex scene was steamy hot. I really enjoyed this one.

UNDERCOVER by lly Goyanes

This was a good story. I liked the characters and how the story unfolded. Even though “Trick” was a cop she couldn’t deny her attraction to her target while undercover. Elements of D/s.

RIDING THE RAILS by Sacchi Green

Very sexy! Perhaps it was the sex on a train aspect, familiar lovers, voyeurism or just damn fine writing bringing everything together. This author just shot to the top of my ‘want to read’ list.

A PRAYER BEFORE BED By Annabeth Long

Raw and emotional. Shows how a cop should always be professional but can’t always be and how a strong woman can’t always be strong. Would love to see a longer story with these two.

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW? By Cheyenne Blue

I would consider a light sweet erotic romance and an overall a good story.

Who doesn’t love to play, especially with a trusted partner? This book is full of great stories that just happen to have everyday people in them. People that love each other and are in relationships but that does not mean that they cannot have some fun along the way. Dull is not a word that I would use with any of these couples. Each story brings the fun and excitement into the couple’s world and alongside these stories is the author giving readers simple and easy things that they can do themselves to enhance their own sex lives.

Fast paced and fun this book not only gives readers a nice read but also a jumping off point for those who may want to try more in their relationships. These are hot and sexy reads that grab your attention right from the start and have you glued to your seat and turning the pages until the end. I enjoyed the variety of subjects in these stories and found some new authors to check out alongside old favorites. This is not only a hot read but also a great way to start some interaction and communication between couples.

Review:

Don’t let the Sting Factor rating put you off of this book. True, there is no kink involved in any of the stories included in this anthology. However, each one includes a wonderfully torrid sex scene that is guaranteed to get the libido kicked in to overdrive and make you go looking for your mate to jump after each story. As the book includes sixteen steaming stories, make sure you have fluids close by as you and yours are bound to need them by the time you are done with ‘Best Erotic Romance 2014’.

Better yet, as there are sixteen stories in this anthology, and trying to get through them all in one night may end up getting one or both in traction from over exertion, keep ‘Best Erotic Romance 2014’ on your nightstand, read a story a night and have a very fun two plus weeks with your partner.

We will not be giving a synopsis of each story here, as no one wishes to read a novel posing as a review and there are too many stories in this anthology to keep it short and still do each story justice. Be assured, there is not a single clunker in this book and all sixteen have a wonderfully hot scene in it. The great thing about these stories is the main characters. We are not talking about millionaires, or pirates, or people from “TMZ”. For the most part, they are just ordinary, everyday people. As Lauren Dane says in her ‘Forward’: “In this anthology you’ll find sixteen stories of sex and love between all sorts of people. Because all sorts of people deserve sex and love.” Amen to that.

While there will not be a synopsis of the stories here, I would be remiss in not at least listing each story and the name of the wonderful author who penned it. Each story is its own little gem, and whether you read them in order, or jump around, you will enjoy each and every one

Review:

Lusty lesbians sexing it up in bite size pieces is always a delight. In Best Lesbian Erotica, the stories are well written. Each of them provide a different erotic taste. With collections it is hard to rate the book when the stories are so different. In this anthology only a few of the stories appealed to me. This is due to the fact that several of the stories included themes I do not enjoy, specifically wholehearted cheating.

Reunion at St. Mary’s by Catherine Lundoff is sacrilegious. Yet the kinkiness of the scene is so bloody hawt. Naughty Ms. Lundoff plays into not only the school girl fantasy with this one, but the strict disciplinary nun. I’m wet just remembering the scene. Ms. Lundoff is very clear with her descriptions and actions. Depraved smutty goodness and a wonderful way to start out the book.

No surprise to me, Big Lesbo Cupcakery by D.L. King delights me to no end. Fans of chemical play, this story is for you. The way Ms. King mixes the sweet cupcakes with kinky sex is mouthwatering. So many choices and all tantalizing back histories of how the cupcakes came to be. Creative, erotic and makes me hungry for more.

The last one to note is Mommy Is Coming by Sarah Schulman and Cheryl Dunye. I’m mixed about this one. Reading it was difficult for someone like me who doesn’t read screenplays. I didn’t always understand the shorthand nor did I care to look them up. The formatting is specific to screenplays and not enjoyable for me to read.  However, the story was interesting. It does pull me in and I now want to see the short film. The twist and comedic running between hotel rooms reminds me of black and white slapstick comedy I loved as a kid.

From a kinky perspective, a few of the stories involved a bit of fetish play. Most of the stories are naughty shenanigans vanilla style. This collection is recommended to f/f lovers who want to experience new authors.

Review:

‘Love Burns Bright’ is a collection of nineteen short stories about love edited by Radcyffe. The twist to the stories is; each story is a love story between two women. Some married, some young, some old, some just starting out, and some having been together for years and years.

While many, if not most of the stories include wonderfully hot and well written scenes of sapphic sex, not all do. And, to be honest, while in some stories the sex seems to be the main topic of the story, the reader only needs to look a little bit deeper to see the true nature of every story, love. The couple in every story in ‘Love Burns Bright’ is deeply in love with each other. Some have been separated by time, some have been together since they were kids, and in the first story of the book, the couple is finally able to be together after a life apart, and not until they have grown grandchildren are they finally able to be together. It is interesting that the first story in the book is one that does not include any sex scene, graphic or otherwise. It sets the mood for the rest of the book, showing that love is the driving factor behind every story. These stories show it does not matter the sex of the people in the couple, love is what makes two people a couple regardless.

Do not let the “Sting Factor” of zero dissuade you from buying this book. There is no BDSM involved in this book, and just because the couples are lesbian couples should not qualify it as a kink book. It is a book about love.

There are too many stories in the book to give a synapsis of each one, and keep the review short enough to be readable. I will say, however, there is not a dud in the book. Each story is a little gem all on its own, and the authors hit just the right chord in each story.  However, it is only right to list the story titles and authors:  ‘Forever Yours, Eileen’ by Rebekah Weatherspoon, ‘A Story about Sarah’ by Cheyenne Blue, ‘Waiting for the Harvest’ by Sommer Marsden, ‘Sepia Showers’ by Andrea Dale, ‘Palabras’ by Anna Meadows, ‘Good Girls Gone Bad’ by Larkin Rose, ‘My Sweetest Noelle’ by Rebehah Weatherspoon, ‘The Portrait’ by D. Jackson Leigh, ‘Heartfirst’ by Kiki DeLovely, ‘Darrell’ by Jay Lawrence, ‘Cooling Down, Heating Up’ by Dena Hankins, ‘Phone Call Away’ by Derek Shannon, ‘Ravens’ by Rachel Randall, ‘The Way to a Woman’s Heart’ by Catherine Paulssen, ‘Ripples in Still Water’ by Stella Harris, ‘Women and Song’ by Rowan Elizabeth, ‘Full Circle’ by Chris Paynyer, ‘Homecoming’ by Kathleen Tudor and ‘You Don’t Bring Me Flowers’ by Radclyffe.

A must read for anybody who believes in love.
