Eve Berlin’s TEMPTATION’S EDGE is out!

In case you haven’t heard there are BIG things happening in the world of erotica, especially for those of us who write the kinkier variety. Whether you love or hate the Fifty Shades books or fall somewhere in between, there’s no denying the impact these books have had on readers, and the domino effect has hit the publishing industry hard!

Luckily for me (or maybe not so much luck as just what comes naturally) I’ve been writing BDSM for years. My novel THE DARK GARDEN (written as Eden Bradley) was first released in 2007, and is now getting a whole new life with it’s upcoming print re-release (the re-release is already available digitally) and it’s gorgeous, sleek new cover, which will be available at Target and other retail stores in September.

I didn’t stop with THE DARK GARDEN—I’ve been writing kink ever since. My latest, TEMPTATION’S EDGE, is out today and it’s my third ‘Eve Berlin’ book. These books are a bit more romance-centered and commercial in tone than many of my ‘Eden’ books, but the core is still BDSM told from a true-to-life perspective. I make no secret of the fact that I’ve been involved in BDSM practice most of my adult life, and I think it makes a difference in the heart and psychology of the story. In my mind you have to ‘get’ power exchange in order to write it well, to write it believably. Of course, there are a talented handful of authors who write really excellent kink without (so they say) ever having practiced it themselves. But it’s obvious the desire and the mindset are there.

Dante comes back into Kara’s life by taking a position as a junior partner in the law firm Kara works for.  The weekend they spent together shows that Kara is the perfect sub for Dante.

I enjoyed this book because of the emotional intensity between Dante and Kara. One thing that was showcased in this book was the dilemma of seeing a co-worker, especially one that has a position above one of the other.

Kara has had bad luck with men in the past, especially when she tried to make her desires known.  Dante tries to be ‘vanilla’ in the beginning, though it doesn’t work very well.  Even though the scenes in the office were hot, I didn’t like that they took place in the workplace so soon after the day was over, partly because of the risk factor, even though that seemed to be part of the attraction.

The emotional aspect between the two makes you want to slap some sense into both of them, even though Kara seemed to be more emotionally mature of the two.  When Dante finally becomes willing to discuss his emotions, I actually started to cry.  The book also showcases how a person’s past effects the present, and that communication is extremely important if you are going to engage in the BDSM life.
