Is he worth the heartbreak? At nearly forty, Julie isn’t so sure she’ll ever find a man who is, so she’s vowed that all her big 4-0 decisions will have zip to do with relationships. A successful theater manager, she agrees to travel to North Carolina and help a friend put her erotic performance theater on its feet. Julie has always been curious and drawn to the BDSM world, and now she can safely explore that world in the environment she knows best. Desmond Hayes is the roofing contractor repairing their rundown theater building, but he’s also a rigger, well-known in the BDSM world for his rope artistry. He’s not just a top, though; he’s a Dom whose unexpected quirks mesh too well with Julie’s eccentric personality and awakens her submissive side. From the time he was born, Des has been fighting the odds against him. Because of that, he’s kept his relationships inside the scene with clear boundaries. While Julie had almost given up on finding a person worth loving through better or worse—or pleasure and pain—Des never expected to receive that gift. He’s not letting that treasure get away—no matter how much rope he has to use to bind her to him.

Whenever I pick up a book from this author I know that it will be good. Joey W. Hill knows how to engage her readers and fleshes out her characters so well that you feel as if you are right there with them and part of their world. The emotions in this book jump right off the pages as you are pulled into Des and Julie’s story. Worth the Wait is a wonderful story of finding the right person for you and never giving up the fight for them.

Right from the beginning both Julie and Des endeared themselves to this reader. The two are a great match both giving the other just what they need. There are many obstacles that the two must face and the most important one being the health issues that Des has. As Julie deals with her own issues about relationships Des must learn to let people in and to trust in the love that Julie is offering. The two go through so much as they fight their way to love. Their story is a wonderful read that will pull on your heartstrings and have you pulling for love.

Book: Soul Rest by Joey W. Hill

A standalone novel of the Knights of the Board Room series

Celeste has worked her ass off to establish her freelance blog as a source of accurate crime news for the Baton Rouge area. Being a workaholic, focusing solely on her career, was her choice. Five years ago, she had a life-changing experience in a BDSM club that made it clear she is a submissive, but she believes her past makes embracing that path impossible. Then Sergeant Leland Keller walks into her life. He’s the Dom she’s always feared and hoped she’d meet, and he recognizes her as what he’s been looking for as well. But she fights submission as much as she longs for it.

Leland always thought he was looking for a docile, sweet-natured sub, but Celeste captures his attention in a way no other submissive has. He can tell Celeste is aching for love and surrender. Having served in the military and now as a patrol sergeant in one of Baton Rouge’s most dangerous districts, he doesn’t shy from a challenge.

His job is to protect and serve. He’s not going to let her down.

Divine Solace by Joey W. Hill is the story of three people learning to find their way together and healing each other. Gen is a young woman who learned long ago that she could only count on herself and no one else. Noah’s hurt runs much deeper and always prepares to be left by those he cares about so he serves in an extreme not caring about his own health and safety. Then there is Lyda, the Domme, who is intrigued by Gen and entrusted with Noah’s care but yet she herself has issues expressing herself to those she cares about. Noah and Lyda are Gen’s guides into the wonderful world of BDSM but what the three did not count on was falling in love with each other. Their story is filled with ups and downs, scary moments, and even forgetful moments when it comes to the rules of the lifestyle.

This story is simply beautiful. Nnot only does it cover the very basics of the BDSM lifestyle it also expresses the true desires of the Domme/Dominant to help His or Her cherished submissive(s) to develop a strong connection not only with Him or Her but also themselves. However, the author takes it a step further and shows how not only a Domme/Dominant can help heal His or Her submissive (s) but how His or Her submissive (s) can help to heal the all empowering Domme/Dominant. In this particular book Joey W. Hill hits out of the park without a doubt and nails the BDSM scenes with grace, style, and true feelings that are invoked throughout the book. Divine Solace is an excellent read and highly recommended. If a higher set of spankings could be awarded this book would definitely receive it. So it is with great pleasure this book is awarded a five out of five spankalicious paddles.

What happens when the man you are interested in is not only vanilla but not a submissive? In the latest Knights of the Boardroom (KoTB) story, we are treated to a femdom book with the perfect executive assistant Janet Albright mixing it up with a former Navy SEAL Maxwell Ackerman.  Max is the limo driver for the KoTB. He’s hot and very good at his job.

This story explores something which seems to occur more and more often. One person in the relationship is vanilla and the other is not. This is a difficult situation where my advice would be no different than Max’s buddy, Dale. Max asked Dale, “So, sight unseen, and given there are a lot of variables, does it ever work, if it’s in the blood of one, but not the other?”

Dale considered the question. “I’ve seen it happen, yes. But it’s different for every pair and—I won’t lie to you—often it’s only a short-term success. Some crash and burn when they approach it for the long haul, because if she eventually needs you to go deep, and you can’t do that, that might be a problem. Unless her reasons for going deep are mixed with other factors, things you can satisfy without that dive. This isn’t a linear thing. It’s more like a maze, and we all find different paths. You’ll be able to find the answer for yourself, good or bad. Just keep all your senses open and follow your instincts. What do they tell you about your chances with her?”

It’s not easy to be in a relationship when desires are so different. To top it off, the vanilla man is supposed to be the submissive. Talk about hurdles to overcome! And in the end of this story, I’m not so sure this will be a long term success.

I found the one step forward and several steps back of Janet and Max’s relationship to be pretty accurate to real life. While this story is written very well and realistic, I have to say that at times I’m ill at ease because of Janet’s responses and behavior towards Max. There are no perfect people in this story. Ms. Hill does a very good job of show people at their worst with their flaws out in the open. There were many times Janet’s decision made me want to slap her upside the head. She’s very selfish at times and quite self-centered. It’s Max who is the constant whipping boy.

Max won the story over for me. He’s not exactly a sexual submissive, but he can definitely bottom. It’s hard to watch because Max is not aroused nor really receiving anything that seems to be rewarding for him when he engages in a scene with Janet. However, he loves Janet so he sacrifices a bit of himself over and over again. This is what caused me to feel ill at ease at times and sad for Max. Plus, Janet comes across as a service Top who isn’t interested in Domming.  She’s called an Ice Bitch for a reason.

While navigating through this relationship minefield, there are other unresolved issues from their past. And their past is brutally painful. It’s a nightmare come to life. What’s worse is it doesn’t seem they have moved on. In some senses, both Janet and Max are held hostages by the events of their past. It’s not that they are victims, but more that they didn’t actually seem to come out of it as survivors. They are living a half life. One foot is still being sucked into a pit of despair from the past while the other foot is desperately looking for solid ground into the future. This makes their current situation at a standstill or better yet – a stagnant holding pattern.

The fall out of the past coming up again and tossing them across the room is a bit extreme. The way his friends and support group failed Max is what confuses me most. Why everyone rallied around only the women just baffled me. My sympathies would have been more with Max. He’s the one who was psychologically and physically tortured. Still, Ms. Hill somehow manages to resolve this conflict into a happily for now. Hopefully another story will bring about a happier ending. This kinky story is recommended for femdom lovers who love the angst.

I did not expect such an emotional read with this story. Iwas excited and knew I would have an enjoyable read with this but the depth ofthe emotions took me by surprise. As a reader of this series I knew we would betaken on an emotional ride but Marcie and Ben’s story really made an impact onthis reader. Ben must not only find his way back but he must also find hisheart. Marcie is always by his side to help him. She knows he has a heart it isjust buried deep down and he has encased it behind a wall. The two go throughso much in this book. From the highs to the lowest of the lows Marcie loves Benbut she finds that she is in the fight of her life and she just might not winthis one.

As extreme of a Dom that Ben is you cannot do anything butlove him. He has gone through so much and has lost the most. Yet we see howcaring and devoted that he is. Now if only Ben himself could see the worth inhim. Marcie has always seen that worth in Ben and has grown into a strong andbrave woman who will fight to the death to prove it to Ben. I admired thestrength and the love that she has and shares with everyone especially Ben.Marcie loves without question and finds what she needs in Ben and his mastery. The attraction between the two is there from the start and it is a beautifulthing to watch it grow into so much more as the book progresses. Making thisnot only a very hot read but a wonderful romance as well.

If you are a fan of this series this is a must read and ifyou have not read this series you really should pick them up. Each and everybook brings us a wonderful and emotional connection between the couple and thislast book is no exception. I truly enjoyed this read and hope that this is notthe last that we get to see of these men and there wonderful subs.
