redefined500x750Who’s Your Daddy?

Daddies. Littles. Even in the BDSM community, people who identify as part of this subset are on the fringe. Though the BDSM community as a whole is misunderstood and maligned, even within the community, this dynamic leaves many people scratching their heads. I had the occasion to meet many littles through a Facebook group that I joined. My interest piqued, I researched the dynamic. After all, I knew that papi means ‘daddy’ in Spanish, but it’s also slang for a hot guy. Was this pretty much the same thing?

Of course, my writer brain churned this new knowledge. It mixed with characters I’d already created, and I had a Eureka moment. I’d been struggling with Amy and Jordan. I knew they belonged together, but it wasn’t until I researched the Daddy Dom/little (D/l or DD/l) dynamic that I understood what they were hiding from me. Then I followed up on my research by interviewing several people who identify as a DD or lg. (Please note that there are Mommies and little boys, but I haven’t encountered any, so I restricted my writing to focus on male Doms and female subs.) That’s when Re/Defined coalesced for me. Jordan is a Daddy Dom, and he’s on the hunt for his little soul mate. Of course, Amy doesn’t know she’s a little. She’s never heard of the concept.

Let’s take a moment and clear up the most common misconception:

  • The relationship between a Daddy and a little is not the same as between a father and daughter, and there is no age play involved—that’s something else entirely.

In fact, in Re/Defined, Amy is six years older than Jordan. Like any worthwhile dominant, Jordan, as a Daddy Dom, is a responsible alpha male who feels a driving need to take care of his submissive. He’s playful and indulgent, walking that fine line between spoiling and reining in his submissive. In this case, he wants to guide Amy in her journey as she discovers who she really is.

That leads to clarifying another common misconception:

  • Littles are grown women with all the wants, needs, and complications that come with adulthood.

Littles are women who sometimes feel like part of them is still a child. Amy likes to color, watch movies aimed at children, and she likes to wear clothes with flowers on them. She has a childlike spirit and an underlying innocence, and Jordan is very attracted to this aspect of her personality. He enjoys having fun just as much as she does, which shows in the places he chooses to take her on their dates.

Finally, let’s clear up another big misconception:

  • The sex in a D/l relationship is no different from sex in a vanilla or BDSM relationship. The kinks are separate from the D/l dynamic and are specific to the people involved.

Jordan is into bondage and sensory play. The sexual element of their play does not take place when Amy is in “little” headspace. Re/Defined (Doms of the FBI 4) follows a woman as she falls in love and finds out who she really is—while running from a ruthless killer who will stop at nothing to get rid of her.

Blurb: Amy Markevich nurses fantasies about dominant agent Jordan Monaghan, but she knows they’ll never come true. He’s younger, to-die-for handsome, and so very different from her. She settles for friendship and dreaming from afar, even when he agrees to show her the platonic side of submission.

Jordan has always known what he wanted, and as he gets to know Amy, he’s convinced that she’s the complete package. Her sexy curves and passionate nature contrast sharply with her childlike innocence and exuberant joie de vivre. She calls to him—body and soul.

Just as he’s about to reveal that he’s a Daddy Dom and that he suspects Amy harbors an inner “little” and a submissive side, Amy witnesses a gruesome murder, and a terrorist organization puts her on top of their most-wanted list.

As they are forced to run for their lives from this unexpected enemy, Jordan helps Amy to accept her true nature—as a little—and to redefine everything she thought she knew about belonging to him.

Warnings: anal play, mini-golf, bondage, sensory play, suction cups, and laser tag.

Excerpt:

Did she want steak or lasagna, or did she want to let Jordan tie her up and do things that belonged to the mysterious Sensory Play category? Amy frowned as she lined up her shot for the sixteenth hole. He was putting no pressure on her at all. After they’d finished their ice cream, he hadn’t brought it up. She felt his touch on her hip, pushing it into alignment to improve her aim. Relaxing, she let him correct her stance. “Thanks.”

“You’re getting better. By the end of the course, you’ll have it down.”

It had occurred to her that she could continue doing it wrong just so he’d keep touching her, but then, she reasoned, he’d eventually give up, and she’d still be doing it wrong. She hit the ball a little too hard, and it sailed past the cup. “Darn.”

“Not bad. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You came close, and that’s an improvement.” He lined up his shot and sank it neatly.

“Would we negotiate everything beforehand? Plan out every detail?”

“No.” He didn’t pretend to not know she’d changed the topic. “If you had any experience, then yes, we could do that. For this, I’d try a few different things so you could decide what you do and don’t like.”

She thought about that as she tapped her ball into the cup. “What if I don’t like it?”

He retrieved their balls. “You’re familiar with the concept of safewords.”

She didn’t have the sense he’d asked a question, more that he wanted her to explain what she knew. “I know the stoplight system. Red halts everything. Yellow pauses the scene for communication, adjustments, and bathroom breaks.” Once she’d come to accept that the BDSM lifestyle wasn’t a form of abuse, her sister had opened up about many of nitty-gritty details. And she’d heard the guys talk about being dominant. They took the safety precaution aspects of it very seriously.

“So you’ll have safewords. I’ll be talking to you a lot so you’ll know you’re not alone.”

It hadn’t occurred to her that he would leave her alone when she was in a vulnerable position. She set her ball on the tee, lined up the shot, and took a swing. It rounded the bank perfectly, bounced twice from the edges of the narrowed curve that linked the two parts of this tricky hole together, avoided the waterfall, and went straight into the cup. Her draw dropped. She looked at Jordan, her eyes so wide she felt they might pop out. “You saw that, right?”

He wore a wide grin. “Your stance was perfect.”

Dropping her putter, she clapped her hands over her heart. “A hole in one. I never thought I’d be able to do that.”

He hugged her with one arm and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “You can do anything you set your mind to, little one.”

“Yes.” She didn’t necessarily agree with him, but she was no longer talking about her amazing feat. “I want to try it with you.”

“All right. Let’s finish this, and then I’ll take you to my place.”

She’d never been to his place. It made sense that they’d go to his apartment because that’s where his equipment would be located. The drive took a little time because he lived two counties away. They mostly chatted about movies and television shows. She figured he wanted to keep the conversation light to put her at ease.

His apartment was exactly like Jamie had described—pristine and sanitary. Amy chalked that up to his modern décor. There was too much shiny metal and not enough color. It could use some fabric and softness to make it homey. Normally she wouldn’t judge anybody’s home, but this seemed so unlike Jordan. Standing there in a black fitted shirt and worn jeans, his face scruffy from a day’s growth, he didn’t seem to fit. The lack of color was him, but the sharpness of the furniture reminded her that perhaps she didn’t know him all that well.

“What do you think?”

“It’s clean.” She wasn’t going to say anything critical, not to a guy who was planning to tie her up.

He frowned. “You don’t like it.”

“It’s fine. I just pictured your place with more leather, and maybe framed photos of your family on the walls.”

He gestured to the sofa. It was the kind with an exposed metal frame and thin cushions for the seat and back. “It’s more comfortable than it looks. Take off your dress and sit down.”

She hadn’t expected him to say that. She looked at her bright yellow sundress, the only spot of real color in the room. “You want me to get undressed? In here?”

“I need to do a few things before we can begin. If you need to freshen up, the bathroom is the down the hall, first door on the left. When I return, I expect to see that you’ve followed orders.”

His tone had shifted, becoming harder and more commanding. This was definitely his Dom tone. A shiver of anticipation ran up her spine. Finally, being with a Dom seemed right. “Should I call you Sir or something?”

“Let’s hold off on titles for now.” He disappeared down the hall.

Amy made use of the bathroom. She combed her fingers through her hair and redid her ponytail, and then she checked to make sure she didn’t have anything weird going on with the parts of her skin that would be exposed. Standing in front of the mirror wearing only her bra and underwear was a sobering experience. Though she’d worn her prettiest, laciest underthings, there was no way Jordan was interested in her as anything more than a friend. With a sigh, she hung her dress on a hook on the back of the door. He found her a few minutes later perched on the edge of the sofa, which was surprisingly comfortable, without her dress.

He sat down next to her, but he leaned back and stretched his arm along the back. “What’s your color?”

She stared at her hands, folded neatly on her lap, and hoped he hadn’t meant for her to be completely naked. “Green.”

Creating Neal mz-a-surrealneal

In a romance novel, the characters are the plot. Their foibles and flaws, wants and needs, drive the action and the way the plot unfolds. For Surreal Neal, I had to come up with a man who was handsome enough to catch Drew and Sophia’s eyes, intriguing enough to keep their interest, and kinky enough to bring something to the table that had been missing.

The other challenge I faced was in making sure neither Drew nor Sophia felt like their relationship was deficient. I wanted the addition of Neal to improve upon what they already had. This is part of the journey Sophia and Drew take as they fall for this imperfect hero.

Neal had to be submissive and a bit of a masochist because Sophia is a Domme and a bit of a sadist. He also needed to be strong because Drew is attracted to strong personalities. He makes the pair work to earn his trust, his submission, and ultimately his heart. He is the first man with whom Sophia voluntarily shares the details of her violent past. He’s a mirror, someone who can help her view her own life through a new viewpoint. Ultimately, he takes her further in the healing process.

Neal is the also first man who awakens Drew’s inner Dom. Until now, Drew had been content to sit back and let Sophia handle the role of Dominant. As he explores this new part of himself, he also gets a chance to see his life and his actions through an alternate lens.

In bringing perspective to both Sophia and Drew, Neal helps them become better people. In turn, they show him that he can learn to trust and love again. That part of his life isn’t over. It’s just beginning.

If you could have one night where any fantasy you wanted would be fulfilled, what would you be doing? One lucky commenter will win an eBook copy of Surreal Neal. Contest ends Sunday night at midnight.

When you started writing, did you have any idea you’d be writing BDSM/kinky books? Do you write in any other genre?

I did not consider BDSM/kinky books when I first started writing. I originally tried penning YA action-adventure novels. The first book I wrote, Tomorrow Cries (which is not published under Michele Zurlo,) was a vampire novel. It took me almost four years to write that epic story and then trim it down into a manageable tale. Unfortunately, it came out at the height of the Twilight frenzy. Bad timing on my part–especially because my heroine was powerful and strong-willed. I recently self-published the prequel to that novel, and I have plans to continue writing in that series. I’ll include the address to that website in the links below. After I wrote Tomorrow Cries, I read my first erotic romance novel, thought I could do a better job, and so I wrote Letting Go. My Awakenings series is my most popular series to date. It’s the one I get the most emails about. While I have vague plans to continue that series, I’m focusing on expanding my Safe Word: Oasis series and my BDSM romantic suspense series (which doesn’t have a name because I can’t think of one.) Mina’s Heart (Safe Word: Oasis #5) is out March 19 and Re/Paired (Keith and Katrina’s story) will be out April 30.

Is there one area of BDSM that you tend to write about more? Why do you think that area creeps into your writing more than some others?

With regard to kink, I tend to write about light masochism and bondage the most. But mostly I try to make my stories true romances. They’re about two people meeting and falling in love, or people who are already in love taking that first step toward eternal togetherness. In my mind, the flirting and getting-to-know-you stages of the relationship are essential and highly romantic. I like reading about and writing character growth and development. When my editor recently sent me edits for Re/Paired, she included a note that said she loved how I always make the sex scenes about so much more than sex. I use them to grow the characters and develop the plot. I’ve seen readers and reviewers who just don’t understand that even in an erotic novel, it’s not all about the sex. Mina’s Heart starts out with a sex scene, but then it flashes back to when they met. Re/Paired, which is a super-long novel, doesn’t have a sex scene for the first sixty pages.

Do you write BDSM/kink erotica based on what you find interesting or sexy, or do you write more for your audience?

I write for myself. I typically include elements that I prefer. Whenever there’s bondage, blindfolding, spanking, or flogging–that’s for me. When writing about the BDSM lifestyle, I find it much easier to write what I know. I also like to push my boundaries–challenge myself to consider things I find interesting but may not practice myself, to step outside of my box and think about BDSM relationships in different ways. When I wrote Re/Bound last year, my heroine was much more into the masochistic aspects than I am.  Mina’s Heart was challenging to write because she doesn’t like impact play at all. I remember rewriting several scenes because I forgot that she didn’t like it. This is probably why some readers really like some of my books and may not care for others–they’re not written to be one-kink-fits-all. I don’t like to be too formulaic or predictable. Writing the same story over and over with small variations does not appeal to me. I like to explore and emphasize different kinks.

Do you do any “hands-on” research when you’re writing BDSM/kinky themed erotica?

Of course! However I also do lots of actual research as well. Practicing BDSM/kink is like decorating a house. Everybody has a different style. I find the research to be very educational, and I often find different things to try out when the kids are out having a sleepover.

What is your favorite fetish? Why?

Bondage is my favorite fetish, especially when coupled with the use of a blindfold. I like the powerlessness and the forced submission. I’m also claustrophobic, so the struggle is as much mental as it is physical.

What might be something of interest to your fans that you don’t think they know about you?

Though I’m open about it, I think most of my fans might be shocked to find out I’m a lesbian. I don’t do closets. Because I write M/f (and even a little M/M,) they assume I play that way. I do not. I have a Dom friend who helps me make sure my scenes are authentic with regard to men. My wife of 17 years often accuses me of thinking like a man, so I guess it works out just fine.

What’s the most surprising piece of feedback you’ve ever received from a fan of your writing?

I’ve had two separate emails from women thanking me for saving their marriages, and a couple more from people who have shared stories of how my books have helped them overcome intimacy issues. When I started writing, I didn’t have a grand scheme in mind, and the idea that I might actually help people (instead of just entertain them) never once crossed my mind.

If someone new to your work is going to start with a story, which one would you recommend they read first?

It depends on what they’re looking for. I have novellas for people short on time or who are looking for a low-commitment first read. The first three books in the Safe Word: Oasis series are novellas. The entire series is pure romance. Letting Go is most people’s first exposure to me, and it is my most popular title. It’s definitely a romance, and it introduces you to my penchant for far-fetched scenarios. For those looking for heavier BDSM content, I recommend Re/Bound (Darcy is a Painslut) or Two Masters for Samantha. Re/Bound is romantic suspense–a much heavier read than my other novels, and it’s probably my favorite book so far.

What is your favorite flavor ice cream? And since this interview is for BDSM Book Reviews, vanilla is not an option!

Mint Chocolate Chip. It’s fresh, sassy, and sweet. (On a side note, in Re/Paired, Katrina’s mom makes ice cream for her or Keith several times. There’s a line where Keith informs Katrina that her parents are coming to dinner, and that her mother had promised to bring orange marmalade ice cream for dessert.)

Blurb for Mina’s Heart:

Mina has sheltered her heart for so long. Can she learn to open it for love?

Mina hadn’t meant to stay in Vermont. She’d planned to collect her mother and move across the country so they could begin a new life. When Everett Burke asked her out, she didn’t mean for it to turn into anything serious, but she fell hard.

Everett had nursed a crush on Mina for years. When the strong, proud woman turned out to be a virgin–and emotionally vulnerable–he vowed to take things slowly. That included easing her into a D/s relationship slowly, only speaking frankly when he felt she was ready.

When Mina discovers his deception and what Ever really wants from her, she breaks it off and flees to the other side of the country. Then one snowy morning, her car careens off the road. Rescued by the one man she dreaded seeing again, she found out she’d run for all the wrong reasons.

Desperate, she submits a wish to Oasis. She wants to know one thing: Can they put the past behind them to build a future together?

Jonas knows that Sabrina should love her life, but as the stress of “having it all” wears on her, he knows he has to do something. Surprising her with a trip to Elysium, a kinkster’s paradise, for their fifth anniversary seems like the perfect thing. From the beginning, this trip seems doomed. First she rejects the gift. When he finally gets her there and she agrees to spend five days as his complete submissive, he thinks he can finally show her how she can truly have it all. At first Sabrina enjoys submitting to the man she loves, but when it becomes too much and she shuts down, Jonas must use everything in his arsenal to break through to the woman who holds the keys to his heart.

Review:

Letting Go 2: Stepping Stones is the 5thbook in the Awakenings series by Michele Zurlo. This is set five years after the book Letting Go the first book in the Awakening series. While you don’t have to read the first book (or the rest if the series), it helps to understand all the characters in the book. Sabrina and Jonas now have been married 5 years and have 2 children. Sabrina is overwhelmed trying to juggle work and family life and Jonas is trying to help her.

Sabrina still struggles with expressing her emotions. Jonas is worried that she is stretched too thin. He arranges a vacation at a BDSM resort. The problem with these two is that they spend a lot of time NOT talking to each other. Jonas lets Sabrina get way with not talking about her feelings during the stay. They both might have enjoyed the stay more if the communicated better with each other (or at all).

The author did what many authors do when they write series books. They give tidbits of the other characters from other books in the series. In some ways help the overall story in the series along. It also detracts from the story in this book. It’s a hard line to walk as an author.

Overall, the one thing to take way with this story is to communicate with your partner. That is what will make or break all relationships. Don’t just assume what is best for your partner.

Excerpt:

Sabrina peeked out the window of her breakfast nook. In the distance, past the deck, the trellis bursting with tangerine and white roses, and a large expanse of lawn, the sun glinted on the water, beckoning her closer.

With the kids at her in-laws for the afternoon, she had some free time, and it had been a few days since she’d been able to get in a good, punishing workout in the water. She opted for a bikini—the hot-as-hell pool boy was due sometime today—grabbed a towel, and rushed to the pool.

As she got closer, she noticed the man with a long pole stuck into the water, and she slowed her pace. Too late. Now she would have to wait for the pool boy to finish cleaning it before she could swim.

With a sigh, she heaved herself onto a lounger and sent a baleful look in his direction. He wasn’t supposed to show up until later, after she’d worked out. She had plans to pull herself, dripping wet, out of the water, throwing her hair back so that the sun caught some of the highlights. She’d squeeze away the excess, letting it drip over her breasts to draw his gaze to the gentle swells there.
He’d ruined everything by showing up early. There was so little variety in her life. She spent most of the day looking after her one- and three-year-olds, and the chance to put herself on display to torment the pool boy was one opportunity she hated missing. While her afternoon wouldn’t be completely ruined, she did prefer to do things her way.

After all, a girl had to have fun, right? Her husband worked long hours and traveled all the time, so she had to get her kicks however she could.

“Good afternoon, Mrs. Spencer.” He grinned at her from across the pool.

He wasn’t wearing a shirt. She spent some time admiring the way his lithe, lean muscles bunched and strained as he methodically worked his way toward the far end of the pool. The tan darkening his skin testified to many hours spent under the punishing rays of the sun.

Her gaze traveled lower, taking in the way his shorts hung low on his hips. Too low. One tug and she’d catch an eyeful. The hipbones jutting forward were tanned as well. It made her wonder if his gorgeous ass enjoyed the same freedom.

“Armand, I thought I told you to not wear those shorts anymore. They’re positively scandalous.” She spoke to him in a tone that managed to be both haughty and lazy. “And put a shirt on. My husband will not look kindly upon you if he sees you walking around here almost naked.”

He didn’t respond. Nothing in the set of his shoulders or the tilt of his mouth gave her a hint as to his reaction, but she knew he had one. She knew he’d heard her. He hadn’t stopped looking at her for a single second.

After forever, he extracted the vacuum from the pool and set it on the concrete patio. Ever so slowly, he rounded the pool, not stopping until his shadow loomed over her. This close, she could see the danger glittering from his olive-green eyes. They were hazel normally, but they tended toward green under most circumstances. When he was feeling amorous, they often turned topaz.

“Mrs. Spencer, your husband is half a world away. And you know as well as I do that you like when I wear these shorts. You think they’re sexy. After all, you bought them for me.” Like a cobra, his hand shot out. He caught the end of the string tied behind her neck to hold up her bikini top, and he tugged.

She felt the small pop that indicated it was no longer tied. She knew she should put her hands over the fabric to shield herself before he peeled the scrap of material away, but she was paralyzed by the hard expression on his face. The planes and angles that made up his face were what some might call handsome. She might think it, but she knew better than to say it to his face. And his lips were positively sensual. She imagined what they’d feel like traveling down her neck, sucking her nipple inside, and then slipping lower.

“Armand, this is highly inappropriate. My husband wouldn’t like this.”

The mask slipped away for a second, revealing Jonas’s humor at her remark. They hadn’t planned to role-play today. She knew he was pleased with her improvisation, and she loved how quickly he’d understood both what she was doing and what she wanted from him.

“He’s a busy man, your husband. I’m doing him a favor by putting you in your place.” With that, he tugged again, and the strings holding up her top came loose. “I’m going to make you beg, Mrs. Spencer.”

Oh lord, she was moist. It only took one look from him to make her knees weak, and he was using it on her now. Thank goodness they’d stocked the pool house with the necessary equipment.

She’d wrangled her hair into a braid to make it easier to get under her swim cap. Reaching back, he grasped her by the long rope and pulled, urging her to stand up. He turned her around, so that her back was to his front, and he guided her back against him. Only then did it become apparent exactly how hard his muscles were. Before she could think to struggle, he banded one iron arm around her midsection.

Because she was half a foot shorter, her head fit neatly under his chin. He rested it on her now, another tool to keep her close. “Last chance, Mrs. Spencer.”

“Really?” She didn’t honestly think he’d let her off the hook so easily. Men as dominant and virile as this didn’t take kindly to her haughtiness.

He chuckled, a low, sinister laugh. “No, not really. Your fate is sealed.”

With that, he peeled away the fabric clinging to her breasts and squeezed one hard, his callused palm scraping her sensitive skin. She whimpered with the effort it cost to not beg for more.

He ground his pelvis into her ass, and she realized he was hard and ready. That could only mean one thing.

Darcy is under suspicion regarding the disappearance of Scott, her former Master.  Malcolm is undercover and makes contact with her to try to get at one of her clients that may have had something to do with Scott’s disappearance.

Re Bound is a wonderful book for those of us that love a good BDSM story.  The author did a good job keeping my interest throughout the book.  There are a lot of twists and turns keeping the suspense going as you learn more about the case and about Victor, Scott and Darcy.  Malcolm realizes Darcy is innocent, but knows there are some major issues that are going to ‘hit the fan’ when Darcy finds out who he really is.

Malcolm is an interesting master, and how he goes about working with Darcy on some issues was intriguing.  I did have one issue with the story, but the author addressed it later that shows her understanding about how important communication is, especially defining hard and soft limits.  Malcolm was extremely safety conscious and it showed throughout the book.

This is one book that I will be reading again.  I am hoping that the author will make this a series or at least have a sequel so I can find out what happens with a couple of secondary characters.

Do you fantasize about the hot guy in the class you teach?  Does he make you stutter and lose all thoughts?  For Mia, Kaelen is this guy.  She’s finishing her last semester as a teaching assistant to a much loathed professor.  Kaelen is one of the older students; he is tall, hot and charming.  She can just tell women flock to him.  His flirty attitude with her flusters her every time.

To get Kaelen out of her system, Mia decides to buy a fantasy package from Oasis.  The company grants fantasies at a price.  The lengthy survey allows her to specify the kind of man she wants and what she wants him to do with her.  Kaelen is the model for the man she wants.  And a spanking is what she is going to hopefully receive.

This story was sweet and predictable.  It was predictable in the sense that the reader knew Kaelen would turn out to be the mystery stranger showing up at Oasis.  Since I’m starting in on book three and haven’t read the previous two books, I’m not sure if there is more about this mysterious fantasy fulfilling company.  What I do know is, I love the concept.  Oasis would be fun to work for as well as use for a fun filled vacation.  I’m leaning more towards working for since I already married the man of my dreams.

Ms. Zurlo’s writing style is smooth and flows.  There are no abrupt endings to leap into a new scene.  Her transition into and out of a sex scene were well done. None of the sex scenes felt as though they were thrown in just to give the story some spice.  The sex scenes were smexy and tasty.  The kinky role playing is definitely spark worthy.  The addition of toys and the inventive ways Kaelen used them sparked my interest.  I still categorized this as SugarKink sweet.  Yes, there were BDSM undertones, but there was very little BD, no D/s and no SM.  I still enjoyed the kinky treat.  I recommend this book to SugarKink lovers who like the teacher/student combination.

Sean and Marcella have worked together for a year and Marcella wants Sean to notice her. Sean is a well known Dom that does exhibitions for a fundraiser once a year. Marcella is a submissive, but knows that some things are just not for her.

I could not put this book down once I started to read By My Side. The author keeps you interested throughout the book and takes you on a very emotional journey with both Marcella and Sean. One thing that was clear throughout this book, compared to others, is the negotiations before and during the scenes to make sure Marcella is comfortable with what Sean is doing even as he is also testing her.

Marcella is a very strong lady which she has to be in her particular job. The author did a good job of showing how a working relationship can change when things become personal, especially within the BDSM community. I liked the author’s concept of granting fantasies and then she used the service as a safe word. I will be getting the first book in this series, as this book has me hooked. This is one I will be reading again.

Justin and Patricia are in a rut-one the size of the Grand Canyon. He works all the time, she cares for their two children and they no longer communicate. Sex between them is lackluster on the rare occasions when it occurs at all.

Desperate, Patricia contacts BDSM Club Oasis and applies for a BDSM fantasy of being kidnapped by a stranger and held as a love slave for a weekend. The problem is, her requirements for the stranger match Justin exactly. The club contacts him and he secretly takes DOM lessons so he can provide his wife with her fantasy and bring the spark back to their marriage.

This short story is about a couple who find their way back to each other after they learn to communicate through BDSM play. It is a short but satisfying read, with some hot sex, and a lot of emphasis on the give and take of sex play. Although most of the narration is done through Justin’s eyes, we also see how Patricia feels. The love between the two of them comes through even during their strained relationship and seeing them resolve their issues is comforting.

The book is part of the author’s Oasis series, and based on this entry, I would like to read others.
