Review:

Roxy Katt is an author who specializes in a unique niche: over-the-top lesbian D/s farce. Her stories are delightful to read, wickedly funny and erotic in a surreal kind of way. Roxy’s latest anthology, Naughty Tales of Leather & Latex: Laugh Out Loud Lesbian Humor, is a compilation of three stories that exemplify her signature bawdy style. A common thread involves unleashing the latent Sapphic leanings of “heterosexual” women in a decidedly amusing manner.

The Space MILF features a prankster lesbian with a penchant for older women wearing rubber. Naughty Jenny seizes the opportunity to indulge her unusual interest in MILFs while helping her best friend’s mother at an art gallery exhibit with a space-age theme. The longest story in this collection, Rubber Space Academy, chronicles the misadventures of a young female cadet whose disciplinary interview spirals into a series of outlandish sexual encounters with women in fetish-like rubber uniforms. The carnage that Pamela leaves in her wake as she flees her tormentors is totally preposterous but laugh-out-loud funny. The trilogy ends with The Problem of Leather, a story that follows two college roommates whose relationship rapidly shifts away from being totally platonic when one of them unintentionally ignites the lust of the other by suddenly changing to a predominantly leather wardrobe. I highly recommend this book to readers with a taste for irreverent kinky humor.

Is there one area of BDSM that you tend to write about more? Why do you think that area creeps into your writing more than some others? leather-latex

I suppose that would be a kind of comical entrapment or humiliation fetish, the idea of getting “stuck” in some way, or perhaps bound in a comical or unexpected manner. I’m pretty far from the classical chains and dungeons type of BDSM. Sometimes I’ll portray some kind of accidental BDSM and/or my characters might well be deliberately bound by someone. Actually, the bondage is usually deliberate, but there can be an element of accident in it. Often they get stuck headfirst in something, or trapped in a suit of armour or an inflating rubber suit, etc. I think it was probably cartoons I saw as a child that started me on the way to being a pervert.

Is there an area that is BDSM/kink-related that you haven’t written about yet that you’re interested in?

I have been branching out a lot into what is often called “futa” fiction, but I have problems with that word. I’d rather say “transgendered,” but that word is too non-specific for what I mean. What I’m doing now is a more specific type of “transgendered”: namely, women with cocks. I like to use the word “phallogyne” here. I don’t explain these characters as Pre-op or in transition or anything like that. They simply are phallogynes. Actually, I suppose this doesn’t quite answer your question because I have written about phallogynes (Rubber Cat Burglar, for example, and “Cream and Punishment”).

Do you write BDSM/kink erotica based on what you find interesting or sexy, or do you write more for your audience?

I write on the basis of what I find sexy. Some of my kinks are very rare (like getting stuck, for example) but fortunately, I mix them liberally with more common kinks of mine like bondage, rubber, or leather, for example. This makes my work marketable and fun to write. I could probably write erotica that didn’t personally interest me, but it would be less fun to do.

What have you written in the past that you think your BDSM/kink fans might find interesting?

My latest release is Roxy Katt’s Naughty Tales of Leather and Latex: Laugh out Loud Lesbian Humor   which includes Rubber Space Academy, “The Space MILF,” and “The Problem of Leather.” Readers who think they might like the phallogyne fiction could check out Rubber Cat Burglar and “Cream and Punishment.”

What is your favorite fetish? Why?

This is hard to answer in any certain way, but I suppose the element common to my interests is humiliation. One moment I’m into leather, the next it’s rubber. One day it’s about women, the next it’s about phallogynes. But my imaginative scenarios pretty much always involve humiliation. And that humiliation is usually comical in some way.

What might be something of interest to your fans that you don’t think they know about you?

I am a Christian and a raving Leftie. Some of the people whose lives, thoughts, and works inspire me are Noam Chomsky, George Orwell, Rosa Luxemburg, for example.

At this point in your career, do you think you’ll write more BDSM/kinky erotica?

Oh yes. I am not the fastest writer in the world, and I tend to feel overwhelmed by the bureaucracy of it all (uploading books to Amazon, making or buying covers, etc.). Nor am I the most prolific writer, especially for someone who writes erotica. But there are always more stories there. I went on a bit of an imaginative binge involving jodhpurs and chauffeuses lately, then was interrupted by some other work I had to do, and left several stories unfinished I want to get back to.

Who is your favorite BDSM/kinky author? Movie?

I suppose in that respect I have not so much authors or movies as certain icons. Catwoman and Batgirl in general, but especially the versions from that uber kinky 1960s Batman TV show. Emma Peel also. This sort of thing makes its way into my work a lot. However, I don’t really sit down and view episodes of this very often, which I guess is a bit odd.

Review:

Roxy Katt writes kinky lesbian erotica with femdom overtones that generally contains a fair sampling of wicked humor. She recently began releasing some of her stories, which originally appeared in anthologies featuring stories by a variety of authors, as standalone Smashwords publications. It is important for readers to be aware before purchasing them that these are short stories – 4000 to 5000 words – so as not to be disappointed by their brevity and relatively thin plots. The good news is that they are exceptionally well-written short stories that are both kinky and funny, a rare treat indeed.

My favorite of the three shorts given to me for review is The City Pony. It is an unconventional pony girl tale that chronicles the budding relationship between two women who work in the same building in Toronto; one is an office worker with an unfulfilled pony fetish, and the other a maintenance worker and recent transplant from Alberta (apparently a largely agricultural province). The affair begins with a series of “chance” meetings in the building’s elevator and the playful bantering conversations that take place between them there. Ultimately the women arrange to meet socially and the Albertan turns the outing into a publicly humiliating and arousing adventure for the wannabe pony girl. The interlude is laugh-out-loud funny and thoroughly enjoyable.

The other two stories, The Trumpet of Destiny and The Ant Queen, involve situations that inadvertently evolve into sexual liaisons and relationships via a humorous and humiliating turn of events. One features a jilted woman who goes to the studio of “the other woman” under the pretext of inspecting her artwork and winds up venting her anger and frustration by spanking the woman soundly. Unexpectedly, this action leads to both women embracing their latent lesbian tendencies and ditching the cheating man in their lives. The second details the beginning of a D/s relationship between a young lesbian and her best friend’s mother after the younger woman takes advantage of the sexy and somewhat imperious mother who has accidentally locked herself into a rubber and plastic ant costume. To enjoy these stories, it helps to have a naughty streak and an appreciation of devilish humor.
