This book is a three story anthology. While I didn’t feel that they had any particularly overwhelming BDSM elements, they were still an interesting read. The three stories are very different from one another when it comes to setting , subject matter, and character.

Winter is the first story in the anthology. It deals with an ancient tribe’s method of appeasing the gods and insuring an end to the winter season. If you are thinking a virgin is sacrificed, you would be completely wrong. In fact, the Master of the tribe selected the young woman because of the sexual acts he witnessed her participating in while in the middle of the woods. The Master’s desire for her continued to grow, so he chose her in order to end her temptation. His plans are foiled when she summons a prince who rescues her. You’ll need to read the rest to find out if the Master is able to catch the sacrifice, or if the prince becomes the next man to be tempted by her seductive ways.

In the Ark Hotel, we are introduced to Angie & Noah. When we first meet Angie, she’s staying in a dive hotel & has just recovered from the injuries that he abusive ex-boyfriend has given her. She leaves him after he beats her until she signs a consent form to spin a wheel at The Ark Hotel, which assigns the couple a sexual act to perform. You’ll want to read this book to find out how Angie reacts when she learns who the hotel’s owners are, what happens when her ex tries to force his way back into her life, and when she discovers she has romantic feelings for Noah.

Demon Protection Plan, is the final story in this anthology. In this story we meet Kassidy & Decland. Kassidy leaves a tattoo parlor feeling excited about her most recent tattoo, when she is accosted by a man who tries to steal her purse. Kassidy is easily able to take down her would be robber, the fact that she is half demon works in her favor. Unfortunately, she ends up in the middle of a police sting to catch the would be robber. She is then forced into protective custody. She & Decland, the officer assigned to protecting her, discover that there’s an unmistakable attraction between the two of them.

This story is only 49 pages long. Therein lies the problem. While ‘Torn To Pieces’ is a very good start, it feels much more like a part of a much larger book that was lifted out of the middle and packaged as a complete story. What there is of it is enjoyable, with a nice twist of involving werewolves and witches, but it just feels like there should be so much more based on what is learned in the short 49 pages. Hopefully Sascha Illyvich will take this story, sit down with it and add about 70 pages before this, and maybe another 60 or 70 pages after this story ends and develop it in to the really good book the story deserves.

Another problem happens at the beginning of the book. While Kerian is at a construction site, he pulls a black handkerchief  from his right rear pocket and slips it around his head. Anybody reading this who is part of a local BDSM community in person would make the connection to the hankie code. This would mean Kerian considers himself a heavy SM bottom. This happens on page 4 of the story, and seems to imply the story is going to be having some very heavy SM play somewhere in the story. If this is what you are waiting for, sadly you will be disappointed. The only kink factor comes in during the last scene of the book where the three main characters, Kerian (male), Jakob (male) and Iolite (female) have a three way sexual encounter and the implication you are left with at the end is they will be forming  poly relationship from that point on.

There are two other sex scenes in the book, which considering the length, three sex scenes isn’t a bad number. However, neither of the other two involve any BDSM. While written well and hot, it leaves one wishing for at least some spanking. There is however, a pervading sexual energy running throughout the story, and while part of it does involve the sexual attraction between Kerian and Jakob, in this day and age an attraction, or even references to male/male sex cannot be considered kinky. It is simply part of the normal human condition of being attracted to who one is attracted to.

The driving under story other than the sexual tension between the three main characters is a disease that is going through the local werewolf community, killing more and more of them with no one having an idea as to why, or what the disease is. Iolite feels she may have the answer, but she needs to get her two boyfriends, Kerian and Jakob, to kiss and make up otherwise she may not be able to find the cure. The story ends with the hope that it is becoming possible for her to do exactly that. But again, there is so much left unanswered.

Is this story worth you reading? Yes, it is. For what is there. It is an enjoyable read, despite the misgivings expressed earlier. However, a more fully fleshed out story with this story being the middle section of the book would be a great read and one hopefully the author will consider.

Why does your hero or heroine feel the need for the type of relationship they’re in?

For the shifters in Dragons’ Mate it is a mating imperative. For Annie the pair make her feel safe and both give her different things she needs. The three together complete each other.

What does having two heroes or heroines do for them?

The pair complements each other, completing a circle of love and protection that my heroine needs.

Tell us a deep dark secret we’d NEVER expect!

One of the few sexcapades I’ve never done is a ménage!

Batman or Superman?

Superman because if I have to look at a man’s underwear on the outside I want to know there’s no skid marks! TMI? Sorry! ;)

Which character is your favorite and why?

I can’t choose! Brand is affectionate and always ready to cuddle. Tine is more the protector and aggressor. Annie is lucky to have them both!

Why does your hero or heroine feel the need for the type of relationship they’re in?

This is the way the mates in this world are set up, and usually it amounts to helping increase the emotional tension. Twice the love, twice the potential for letdown, twice the potential for strife, twice the potential for the hero to pull his shit together.

What does having two heroes or heroines do for them?

Creates balance. Humans are complex creatures and having someone who is logical and primarily emotional, while someone else is primarily emotional but logical also, helps that heart/head war we read about so much in romance.

Tell us a deep dark secret we’d NEVER expect!

I really don’t have any secrets.  People have known for years I’m a little off the wall, I cross dress, have a lingerie fetish, um…yeah.  Pretty much nothing new here.

Batman or Superman?

Batman.  Always.

Which character is your favorite and why?

See now this leads into triad territory. When I created Józsi I sort of based him off Joséf from Endangered (you see the resemblance?) and Vin Diesel. But his two lovers differ tremendously from Joszí’s in that Joséf’s second (Isabella) is darker and probably more pragmatic than Lukina, but that may be the difference in age. Oh and the fact that vampires Livía and Isabella are a few hundred years old, whereas Lukina and Ilona are werewolves and far less old. I don’t know.  This was supposed to be simple! Who came up with these questions!

Why does your hero or heroine feel the need for the type of relationship they’re in?

My heroes in this book have always shared their women.  As best friends, they loved using their sexual skills to double a woman’s pleasure. Now, of course, they’re ghosts under a witches curse to fulfill the desires of the cottages owner.

What does having two heroes or heroines do for them?

For the heroes it’s a natural way of expressing their desires, an extension of their lifelong friendship.  For my heroine, it’s the realization that it is possible to genuinely love two people in equal measures.

Tell us a deep dark secret we’d NEVER expect!

I’m currently writing a book that’s so hot, so boundary pushing, that I’ll have to find a new pseudonym to publish it under.

Batman or Superman?

Batman. He’s tall dark handsome, mega rich, and has a tortured soul. My favorite type of hero.

Which character is your favorite and why?

I like Elly, my heroine. She’s coming up to her first Christmas after the loss of her parents, and it’s making her sad. Yet in the course of this book, she leaps into a relationship with two gorgeous ghosts, tries to discover a way to break a witches curse, and finds time to play matchmaker for her best friend at the same time. I do love a woman who can multitask…

Bound for Love edited by Sascha Illyvich

From Sizzler Editions

Most people would think that the world of being tied up, whipped and ordered around like a slave and the world of flowers and romance are two different worlds that could never go hand in hand. Yet, in truth many of our most intense moments of lovemaking include elements of bondage or BDSM – mental or physical. Some even say there is nothing more romantic and precious than the surrender of a sub to a dom. When explicit trust leads to intimacy, a greater connection occurs between the participants. The stories in this collection focus on the romantic aspect of the BDSM lifestyle. But it also has something to say to everyone – for while only some may be tops and bottoms in a dungeon, we are all tops and bottoms in love. In the collection’s first story Gianna Simone take us through a situation that seems destined to tear a longtime dominant and submissive apart. Then PM White shows that BDSM can create a connection that transcends time and space. Next Marianne LaCroix portrays the depth of love a sissy bitch can have for his strict, demanding Mistress. Oceania shows us profound romance in a session of foot tickling. Margie Church and newcomer K. B. Cutter wonder can a dominant male learn to switch – if it’s for the one he loves? Plus six more masterful stories about romance in the world of dominance and submission and people who are bound for love.

Bound For Love edited by Sascha Illyvich

Story Rating: 4 out of 5 paddles

Sting Factor (kink): 4.5 out of 5

This anthology is full of many erotic stories all revolving around some kind of BDSM. The stories range from the tame to those with very strong BDSM content. Each of these stories takes you on an emotional ride. Every author does a good job of bringing their worlds and characters to life and kept me interested all the way through to the end of every story.

FANTASY UNBOUND by GIANNA SIMONE brings to coworkers together. Emily and Devon have harbored feelings for each other for some time now but have always hidden them away, thinking that they would never be reciprocated. I think that this was the most romantic story from this anthology. It was wonderful to see Devon and Emily begin their tentative relationship. Due to circumstances out of their control the two are finally able to admit and act on their feelings.  The two make a wonderful couple and seeing the love and trust between them was a great read.

MORE by PM White gives us a story of a mans awakening. During a visit to a poetry slam John Sellers finds himself having a new adventure with a woman named Lela. She shows him just how he inspires her and continues to be her muse through out the competition. This was an interesting story. Watching John find himself was a good read and in the end we find ourselves wondering just where he will go from here.

TIE ME UP AND SPANKME by Marianne LaCroix shows us Mistress Helen and her sub. He enjoys many things that others are not aware of and she is more than willing to accommodate him. Mistress Helen knows just what he needs and wants and gives it to him. This story shows the love between these two and makes for a nice read. Seeing the emotions that both Mistress Helen and her sub show us was a nice read.

FAITHFUL by Clarice Clique brings us the story of Faith.  As we begin the story she is one of two subs staying with her Dom. He is a strong Dom who pushes many of the women’s buttons and some may find the debasing of the women offending. Faith loves her Dom and wants more from him. She must find herself first before he will agree. The emotional struggle that Faith goes through makes for an engaging read. The love between the two is evident and shows in all that they do.

THE COUNTESS by Oceania Monroe was an intriguing story based around a foot fetish. This story was not something I generally read about but it still kept my attention. It was an interesting read that had me waiting to see just what would happen next between the Countess and the agents.

HEREAFTER BRIDLED by Cèsar Sanchez Zapata gives us the story of Weston. He has never found what he did so long ago on a strange night out. That is until the one day when Veronica walks back into his life.  The love that these two have for each other is strong and lasts even the years that they are apart. She is a strong Mistress and Wesson longs for her and what she can do. Seeing the fire between these two made for a hot read.

POSSESSED by Sascha Illyvich is Valerie’s story. She comes to Ronan’s house to receive her punishment for not being able to do as he asked. Valerie wants to belong to Ronan, she wants to be his slave and is more than ready to do anything he wants and is more than willing to share him with his other woman. Seeing the trust Valerie has for Ronan made for an engaging read.

TAKEN FOR A RIDE by Marge T Felcher gives us Bryony and her adventure. We are treated to her feelings and her inner thoughts throughout her adventure in pleasing her Dom as she is put into a special device to be the entertainment of the night. This author does a great job of bringing Bryony and her feelings to life. Both her physical and mental feelings are shown in this story. Making for an enjoyable read.

RAZOR by Margie Church and K. B. Cutter shows us that an alpha male can learn to show his softer side to his wife and her best friend. He loves his wife and is more than willing to try and give her what she needs and if that means submitting to her best friend than that is what he will do. Seeing the love shine between Amy and Bryce was nice and seeing what he is willing to do to please his wife and make things work was a nice read.

BONDAGE OF THEHEART by Genevieve Ash gives us the story of Cara and Philip. Theirs is a strange relationship. Cara allows Philip to enjoy others and wants to hear about his exploits and decides she no longer wants only to hear but now wants to see. The tide is turned on Cara when she goes to Philip’s house and hides in his closet to watch. Seeing the love and understanding between Cara and Philip made for an engaging read.

All of these stories give the reader a look into a different world. They show us that this world is not just full of pain but filled with love and understanding. The trust and attraction is strong between all of the characters in these stories. I enjoyed my visit to each author’s world and will be sure to look for more from many of these authors in this anthology.

Treasure’s Gift by Sascha Illyvich

Story Rating: 3 out of 5 paddles

Sting Factor (kink): 3 out of 5

When Mark pops in on a work visit to Houston, the lovely and curvaceous Treasure not only plans to make his fantasies come true, but ups the ante by adding an equally delicious friend to the mix. Can Mark resist Treasure’s temptation or will two women double his pleasure?

This is a very short story about a woman named Treasure who has a female friend come over to have a three way with a guy friend of hers. This is a story that would most likely be enjoyed by male readers. It’s tempting to say that there isn’t a whole lot of kink except for the three way. Some might argue that in itself is kinky, but compared to other stuff out there, this seems tame. If you’re looking for a quickie three way tale then this would satisfy.

The Playground by Sascha Illyvich

Sory rating: 3 out of 5 paddles

Sting factor (kink): 4 out of 5

Jet setter and playboy Devon has a BDSM dark side he wants to make reality, only catch is the girl who would serve him perfectly left him years ago and is afraid of what living with him means. He’d given up all hope until he’d spotted Shelly, waiting tables in the casino he happened to be sitting in. Using the 1NightStand service to find her, set her up in a park, have her chained/bound to playground equipment with only a blindfold on. Can his Dominance teach her the meaning of true love?

I have heard great things about Sascha Illyvich as an author and love the 1NS (One Night Stand) series.  But, I was disappointed in this installment.  The Playground is enjoyable but not compelling. I won’t blame it on the length (less than 40 pages) since I have read some short stories that manage to wrap it all in.

Devon and Shelly were involved several years ago and now, Devon’s found her again.  Enlisting the 1NightStand service to find her and hopefully get her back, Devon gives Shelly a wonderful night.  I liked what I knew about both characters.  But, I do feel like a bit of their development was missing.  I never got invested in their story and didn’t really care what the outcome was for them.

Devon is obviously a dominant and he does it well.  Shelly just needs to realize that what she wants is to be a submissive and he is determined to help her realize that.  I did really enjoy Sascha Illyvich’s use of common items in the BDSM scenes they did.  It wasn’t necessary for the characters to have a dungeon or a lot of purchased equipment and that did make it feel more down to earth and realistic.

Overall, the story is enjoyable and hot.  It just didn’t hit the right buttons for me to be compelling and phenomenal.  If you enjoy the 1NS series or books by Sascha Illyvich, I think you’ll enjoy The Playground as an addition to that.  Even if you are looking for a short story that packs an erotic punch with accurate and palpable BDSM themes, then this would be once I recommend.

1.      When you first started writing, did you have any idea you’d be writing BDSM/kinky books? Do you write in any other genre?

I write in paranormal romance, erotica, contemporary, I pretty much span the entire Romance genre, minus doing historical stuff.  Never been a huge fan of historical romances.  I didn’t know I COULD write BDSM when I first started, until I had done some research.

2.      Are you actively involved in BDSM? If so how do you identify yourself? Dom(me)/sub? Top/bottom? Switch?

I am involved loosely in several communities through online communication and through conference attendance.  As an editor at Sizzler Editions for the Intoxications Erotic Romance line, it’s important that I at least make myself somewhat available publically.  Yes, I do play in the Kink world, I throw bullwhips, singletails, floggers, just ask my assistant ;)  I am an Alpha Dominant with switch tendencies.

3.      At what point did you decide you wanted to write BDSM/kinky-themed erotica?

When I thought I could heal myself through sexuality and break free of the pain I and others had inflicted on myself, I dove into the Lifestyle as a way to research stories and find resolutions to problems I had.  From the very beginning of my career I’ve been writing kink.

4.      Was there something that happened to you in your life or career that made you want to begin thinking about writing BDSM/kinky-themed erotica?

Yeah, my parents fucked me up and didn’t even show me how to fix me.  Then the desires became habit and the habit became a way of life.  Then I learned to fix myself but the habits only lessened.

5.      Is there one area of BDSM that you tend to write about more? Why do you think that area creeps into your writing more than some others?

Probably control issues.  So many folks tend to let themselves go, not being guided but drifting instead.  That’s fine as long there are boundaries and expectations by a solid hand, be it theirs or someone else’s but if someone else is going to take the reins love should play a solid part in it.

6.      Do you do any “hands-on” research when you’re writing BDSM/kinky themed erotica?

Let’s say I’ve had my share of “Oops” with bullwhips and singletails…

7.      What is your favorite fetish? Why?

Whips, definitely.  I’m legally blind, so while I can see, my field of vision is “perfect” but limited by ocular albinism.  That being said, the ability to wield something as powerful as a bullwhip that can literally BREAK bones gives me a rush.  It’s a control thing.  I can crush or caress you with my singletails.

8.      When you’re writing BDSM/kinky-related erotica, is there a particular movie or music that you might watch or listen to that helps you get in that frame of mind?

Slayer, Sevendust, Pantera, Devildriver, VNV Nation, Assemblage 23, Cold, Rammstein, Godsmack.   The music helps with the emotional part, be it lyrically or through the music itself, I feel more.

9.      If someone new to your work is going to start with a story, which one would you recommend they read first?

For BDSM, Gift of Her Submission.  Then move to Forced Pleasure, those two books should help folks understand the sort of Dominant I believe in.

The Playground – a Decadent 1Night Stand

Blurb: Jet setter and playboy Devon has a BDSM side he wants to make reality, the only catch is Shelly, the woman who would serve him perfectly left him years ago and is afraid of what living with him means. While in a Las Vegas casino he spots her.  Using 1Night Stand, he sets her up in a park, have her bound to playground equipment with only a blindfold on…and his Dominance to hopefully teach her the meaning of true love, using the one thing he knows will capture Shelly’s attention.

“Pleasing her, giving her enjoyment in using me, was my greatest fetish.”

That line is from my latest release included in the Sizzler Editions anthology BOUND FOR LOVE [link]. My story, Tie Me Up and Spank Me, is a Femdom short story told from the male submissive’s point of view. He adores his Mistress and will do anything to make her happy.

What kinds of things will a male submissive do to make his dominant happy? In my story he is feminized where he dresses like a schoolgirl–plaid skirt, thigh high stockings and high heel Mary Janes, and a thong. He doesn’t just dress like the naughty school girl, he was ordered to do so. Why? Because it is what she wished.

Many vanilla people can’t understand why someone would subject himself to humiliation like cross dressing for his Domme. They don’t get why a man would want to be humiliated in the first place. It’s simple–its a kink. No one can really explain the why to any specific kink like a foot fetish or a desire to wear ladies’ panties. Simply put, it is arousing for that individual. In the case of a man desiring to dress in a skirt and heels, it is arousing in some manner for him and his Mistress. She may be amused by his strut in heels, and he enjoys making her happy in doing it. It can be he desires to be feminized simply to be humiliated, brought to his knees to a place where he loses control. There are a number of reasons…and these are only a few.

I prefer the alpha type submissive. The alpha is the macho man to the world, but the submissive servant to his dominant woman. He wants to be free of his worldly role and let another take charge. It doesn’t make him less of a man to submit in private, and he knows his dominant accepts him no matter what–even dressed in heels and a skirt. The alpha submissive male can wear a skirt, heels and stockings yet his masculinity shines through. There is no doubt he is the sexy beast. No feminine trappings can deter from his primal aura. (I’ve seen such a man strut into a party dressed as a school girl holding a bottle of beer. It was the sexiest damn thing.) The point to the feminization is more to give some vulnerability to this otherwise macho man. I personally find a hot manly man with some vulnerability to be sexy as hell.

Excerpt from Tie Me Up and Spank Me, a story in BOUND FOR LOVE:

When my Mistress snapped her fingers and pointed to the floor, I fell to my knees. Doing so was natural, almost instinctive. I never hesitated, not even a second. She commanded me the moment she entered the room.

I bowed before her, my hands and knees against to cool surface of the bare dungeon floor. Her dungeon—her private escape from the vanilla world. Within her dungeon she ruled and I awaited her next command.

Mistress Helen stepped closer and I heard the creak of PVC and the distinct step of her platform boots against the cement floor. I fought to keep my eyes lowered as I desired to look upon her dressed in her favorite mini-dress and boots, but I remained frozen, waiting.

“My my, you are quite the sexy bitch, aren’t you?” Her voice held humor in check, but only barely.

“If you say so, Mistress,” I replied. My cock stirred and I shifted my position. The thong I wore hardly contained my growing erection. Even now one of my balls slid out to one side.

She stopped and stood before me so close the toes of her boots were within my sight. She chuckled and flicked my little red plaid skirt with what I believed was a riding crop, one my Mistress’s favorite toys.

“You look good in a little skirt.” She paused then struck a buttock.

I jumped and cried out. Yes, definitely the crop.

“Hold still,” she ordered in a stern tone.

“Yes Mistress. Sorry Mistress.”

She whacked my ass again in the same spot with her crop. I bit my lip and forced myself to remain still.

“Hmm.” She paused then stepped back. “Stand up so I get a good look at you.”

I rose from the floor wondering if I dirtied the knees of my white thigh highs. Dirty knees would surely earn me a spanking.

Oh yeah. I suppressed a moan as my cock hardened more at the thought. I couldn’t help but smile. I wanted her to smack my ass—hard and merciless.

“You’re wearing a little skirt, stockings and high heel Mary Janes as I ordered. Very, very good. Now, are you wearing panties too, boy?”

I gulped back my growing excitement brought on by the sound of her voice. “Yes Mistress. I am.”

“Lift your skirt and let me see.”

I lifted the short skirt to reveal a red lacy thong.

“Slut,” she muttered with a soft chuckle.

With the release of “Surrender to Love” out from Decadent Publishing, I have explored the more sensual side of kink. Taking a cue from the mass market approach to BDSM that generally knows little of what true kink is, but has desires begging to be explored, I set out to create a story that, based on fantasy, would entice the more timid towards a slightly more deviant (and perhaps more enjoyable!) side of sexuality.

In order to cure the dreaded creative rut she’s in, Livia ends up in Las Vegas by suggestion from her therapist. Oh and there’s a catch. Livia ‘s been set up to have a one night stand with a very handsome man who promises her freedom through submission. Can she surrender to more than just passion?

Using silk restraints, a trustworthy hero and a sexy atmosphere, lavish with decadence and debauchery all around, I attempted to craft a story that eschewed the hardcore kink and appealed to a softer side. See, as authors we have our own fantasies but in the end we’re still marketing. Still selling our stories.

What better way to sell a story than to write something that more women could see themselves in without having to spend a ton of money on fancy bondage equipment or time learning the finer points of Shibari? Surrender to Love is really just a love story, albeit one hell of a love story. It’s the start of opening up to the inner vixen for Livia. It’s the birth of her true nature as a sensual creature that learns to take power even while it seems that she has lost it all through the bonds of silk and the confines of an ornate wood chair.

We can’t ignore Bruce, the man who shares the passion and desire to free others from the confines of what we have allowed others to make us. With his disarming smile, suave attitude and boyish charm, Bruce must convince Livia that she too can find the freedom she so desires. He has his own fears too. Rejection of him because of his role as a guiding submissive male in a society that demands men act like sharks, fear of frightening a woman he’s interested in, all things we can relate to.

But the story of Livia’s surrender is really one of alchemy. The law of equivalent exchange applied here gives usher surrendering fear in order to receive deeper meaning from life, and from herself.
