Review:

This exploration of a D/s relationship between a fiercely independent woman and a dedicated Dom is a good read, with a satisfying story and a fully developed relationship between the main characters.

Julia is shocked at the wedding of her best friend to see her friend kneel and ask for her husband’s collar. Before she can leave, Marcus steps forward to answer her questions-and offers to show her a night of submission.

After escaping a relationship that verged on abusive, Julia isn’t eager to lose herself to another man. But Marcus offers a temptation she can’t refuse-one night as a submissive.

The one night leads to several, and Marcus realizes he wants Julia full time. But Julia still insists she doesn’t want that. Can the two of them overcome their differing viewpoints?

The book is hot and contains bondage, spanking, flogging, tawsing, and more.

Sierra Cartwright has created a sizzling little drama with In the Zone.  This is a book for those who prefer hardcore BDSM reads.  It promises and delivers some literally hard-hitting scenes between a masochist and her sadist Dom.

When Master Nathanial catches professional sub Alani yawning through a scene at the BDSM Club where he is part owner, he demands that she be disciplined and retrained.  Alani is terrified of the emotions the Dom makes her feel.  She has closed off her emotions since a bad incident with another Dom and has no desire to leave her comfort zone.  She also doesn’t believe she is a true sub-she’s in it for the release pain gives her.

For his part, Nathanial has no desire to take on a full time sub-his job takes him away from home far too often to make such a relationship comfortable.

But as he oversees her re-training as a sub, they both come to the realization that they can move beyond their comfort level into a zone where something wonderful awaits.  But can they overcome their own pasts to make that connection?

Cartwright has created two sympathetic characters in a story that draws the reader into her world.  This is a love story with the BDSM lifestyle at the heart of the book.
