Review:

While I don’t normally like either sci-fi or m/m books, good writing is good regardless of the setting, and this book is good. The futuristic novella tells the story of former partners, Lark and Derek, who meet again on a prison island.

In the past, Derek was drawn to Lark sexually, but never acted on it. Then, he was left as a captive in the hands of a vicious group and believed Lark had betrayed him. But Lark, although a hard ass when needed, loved Derek and was betrayed by the government they both worked for and didn’t intentionally leave Derek behind.

Can the two of them overcome their pasts and escape the prison island to find happiness together?

The book included lots of sex, including some interesting sci-fi BDSM, and the heat level was as high as the spaceship Derek piloted.

This was one of those that kept you turning the pages to see where the action would take you. It was well written and captivating.

Review:

Only the allure of a possible vengeance would convince a trip to the godforsaken world of Lithusia.  This is the planet where Derek was tortured over and over again by the Krax.  This second book in the series is a piece in the puzzle to who sold out IIB agents Derek and Lark.  Derek is determined to get to find the traitor and make them pay.  When they discover it is someone they trusted, it shatters them.

The story moved pretty fast and was a quick read.  The reader learns more about this world and the conspiracies against Derek and Lark.  More questions are raised which one can only hope are answered in the next book.  Many of the questions from the previous book are answered in this one.  Still, this book can be confusing at times.  It could be because the names Derek and Lark are so similar that at times it’s hard to remember which person is talking and which one is the one with issues.  It could also be that the two characters are so similar that it’s hard to distinguish between the two.  This is the main reason why this story rated a 3 star.

Recently, I had a conversation with some other authors about what characterized each of our writing styles. Someone asked if any single theme ran through all my stories. I thought for awhile and ultimately realized that the one thing that all my stories have at some level or another is D/s. In some books like Seduction of the Captain, it’s overt and in others, more subtle. It may include spanking, whipping, restraints, etc, or it may include nothing more intense than a commanding tone, expectation of obedience in the moment, or holding a lover’s hands down.

But at some point during the sex scenes in my stories, whether they are m/f, m/m, or ménage, one of the lovers dominates his partner. In some stories, the same partner remains dominant in bed, and in others their roles may be reversed regularly or in a single special instance. Or, as in Seduction of the Captain, one partner dominates sexually while the other plays the dominant role in other aspects of their relationship.

One theme I’ve returned to many times is sexual submission as a way to let go of stress and a release valve for people who have a fierce need to control their lives and the lives of others. Letting go and letting a partner dominate can ease tension like a good massage, but it goes deeper to an emotional or even spiritual level.

In Seduction of the Captain, Saida is the captain of a mercenary spaceship. She gained her position through skill, bravery, and the ability to subdue a rough crew for months at a time. She’s a work-a-holic who insists on controlling every aspect of life on her ship. Her crew obeys her out of a combination of fear and respect. Saida craves sexual submission, but she’s never admitted her needs to anyone.

Kajinek is a skilled pilot as well as a skilled Dominant. When Saida hires him, they make a bargain. He will obey her as his captain, but in her private quarters, she is his to command. His dominance of her allows her to let go of some of her defenses which have prevented her making solid friendships or romantic relationships.

Seduction of the Captain by Silvia Violet

Kajinek is a Lalatian Dominant who must feed on fear, pain, and sex for survival. Since leaving his homeworld, he hasn’t met a woman who could truly satisfy his needs.

Mercenary captain Saida Alexander needs a pilot for the most dangerous mission she’s ever undertaken. She chooses Kajinek, because he’s reputed to be the very best. She never suspects that he’ll awaken the submissive desires she’s ignored for years.

When Saida knocks on Kajinek’s door, he senses that she’s the partner he’s been looking for. He agrees to fly her ship under one condition; she must personally feed his darkest desires. Can Saida give in to what her body wants or will submitting sexually shatter the careful control she wields over the rest of her life?
