Below is our interview with Sue Swift/Suz deMello. Be sure to leave a comment and be eligible to win an e book from either pen name backlist.
1. When you first started writing, did you have any idea you’d be writing BDSM/kinky books? Do you write in any other genre?
Writing BDSM didn’t occur to me when I was writing “straight” romance, but as soon as I branched out into erotic romance, I promptly wrote a BDSM novel. BDSM has always intrigued me.
2. Do you use a pen name? If yes (or no), why?
I do. I write “straight” stories as Sue Swift, and erotic romance as Suz deMello. I enjoy having alternate identities, and the two names lets readers know what kind of story to expect.
3. Are you actively involved in BDSM? If so how do you identify yourself? Dom(me)/sub? Top/bottom? Switch?
LOL… I wish my life included anything resembling sex, but at the moment I’m taking care of my 82 y-o mom, who has Alzheimer’s. When I’m sexually active, I notice that I have a little bit of both top and bottom in me. I want what I want, but sometimes that includes being tied up and allowing a partner I trust and want to have his wicked way with me
4. At what point did you decide you wanted to write BDSM/kinky-themed erotica?
When I ventured out of “straight” romance and into more erotic fiction, I instantly gravitated to BDSM.
5. Was there something that happened to you in your life or career that made you want to begin thinking about writing BDSM/kinky-themed erotica?
My career seemed to be at a standstill and I decided to shake up the writing
